The journal Cancer Research reports today that the compound TR100 targets the protein tropomyosin, which is one of the building blocks of cancer cells. "It is much like what happens when you see a building collapse on the TV news," researcher Professor Peter Gunning, from UNSW Medicine said.

"Our drug causes the structure of the cancer cell to collapse - and it happens relatively quickly."

This will disappear quickly. No one in power wants a cure. There is way more profit in ongoing treatment. Being cynical doesn't mean I'm wrong.

Depends on who makes the money on cancer treatments in Australia.

And depends if a country has a health service or health industry........

If you're in a country that has a health industry happily preying on the sick and injured, then they'll move to kill any "Magic Bullets" aimed at cancer.

Anybody remember how the FDA deleberately botched trials of Hydrazine Sulphate back in the 1990's??

It ended up in court.

http://www.hydrazinesulfate.org/

Now google IL-6 patent and read the first half dozen entries and ask yourself why we are putting up with Crohns, arthritis, Alzheimers and a host of auto-immune disorders.

Penacillin was also resisted and decried by the world's medical profession back in the 1930's as it took away the very lucrative income most GPs made "treating" and "managing" Syphilis, Gonoera, Terbeculosis, Pneumonia, etc.

Penacillin was the "Magic Bullet" to all of these and years of medical exploitation of the inflicted could be solved by a taking a course of tablets over a week or two.

WW2 allowed penecillin to escape deleberate surpression by the world's medical profession as it was needed to treat seriously wounded and especially burnt servicemen.

Once out of the bag it could never be hushed up again.
