Hey,

So I recently bought the Star Trek Commander's Edition; which includes Starfleet Command 1, 2 and Star Trek New Worlds.
I popped in the CD for Starfleet Command 1, and had numerous problems getting it installed and running; most of which were solved with help from this forum. But now I've hit a roadblock I've found no help for.
I get all the way to starting a campaign. I enter my Captain's name, select the era, and click 'Begin Campaign' and instantly, the game dumps out.
I've tried all kinds of settings, resolutions, and even trying compatibility mode again (which, strangely, in Windows 7 actually makes things worse.) and have been unable to get it to go past that point.

Any help would be appreciated, I'd really love to play this great old game.

Thanks

I was never able to get New Worlds to play with Win 7, even using DOsbox, or the built in XP console thingie that was available with 7 Ultimate.

I could have sworn, that jewel case you mentioned, came with Starfleet Academy though, and not SFC. I may get off my butt and track it down, I think I left it in the old Fridge. (Yes, I use an old Fridge to store older games LOL)

I can't get New Worlds to run on XP service pack 3.  Surprisingly, it runs just fine on vista.

I purchased this from a local PC Repair shop where I've gotten my games for years, (including my original copy of Starfleet Command, which has since been...lost).
This is the copy I purchased, for those of you wondering:

Seems to me, there was two commands to get those games to work, one was like the SFC.exe and the other something like Starfleetcommand.exe .

One would run it fine, the other would cause a crash, at a certain point.  I do remember that version btw.

With New worlds, I think it is tied into video issues Knightstorm, I'm just waking up so bear with me here. But didn't it use Gah, can't think of the word, starts with the letter G, keep wanting to say glyde, but I know that's not it. Open GL or something like that.

You hardly see it any more in games, or vid cards. Might try hitting up WinHQ and looking around. I know I wasn't able to get Tom Clancy's SSN to run because of this same problem.
