Hey guys,

It's been a VERY long time since I last played any of the Starfleet Command games. My old PC died a fiery death three years ago and I had to move on to Win 7. Dissatisfaction with STO and the desire for some trek gaming has brought me back here. So many names I remember are absent and so many websites closed.

Anyway, back when the new Trek movie was just a bunch of teaser images, I jumped on the bandwagon and designed a remake of the Constitution-class. I rediscovered my one image of it while searching for SFC models on my disembodied HDs from my old computer and I was hoping some kind soul who can actually render might make it.

What I tried to do with the design was basically look at the Refit Constitution and work backwards. Initially all I did was cut off the new nacelles and pylons and put the old ones in place, but as time went on I went further.

Nacelles: I really appreciated the enlarged, shrouded bussard domes that others had done and so I added those as well. I think it breaks up the monotony of them a little. Intercooler fins were inspired by the ventral strake fins seen on the F-14. Inner faces of the nacelles are exactly as on the TOS ship. Until 2065, the nacelles would have spikes on the bussards, which glow red and have a visible compressor turbine. Each nacelle contains two warp coils arranged in double helix that run aft to where the fins start. Aft of the coils are tokomaks that provide power for the stardrive impulse engines, which exhaust out of the rear of the nacelle.

Secondary hull: the engineering section is as in the refit only with the TOS shuttle bay. The Nacelle pylons are straight (I imagine that the M/ARA is a horizontal assembly) with an aircraft wing cross section. The aft edge flares at the bottom, once again to break monotony. Inner faces of the pylons would show similar detail to the Sovereign pylons. Deflector maintains the shape of the TOS vessel but the outer third of the inner face glows anti-proton blue. The interconnecting pylon is as on the refit with a torpedo launcher mounted. However, this is a single launcher instead of a double unit. I imagine it would be capable of firing in volleys.

Saucer: The saucer section is as on the refit. However, the TOS sensor dome is mounted to the bottom and the bridge dome is inspired by the NX-01. As launched, the bridge dome is tall with a transparent skylight. In 2265 a lower-profile dome will be installed. Impulse deck is best described as a hybrid of the jjprise and the original. The deck fin is from the TOS ship, the exhaust ports are as seen on the reboot. The main phaser emitters are mounted just ahead of the lower sensor dome. They are heavy phasers that cover the entire forward half of the vessel. Two other pairs of emitters are mounted on the dorsal surface on either side of the bridge (in their traditional place). These are lighter phasers mainly used for point defense and to ward off attacks from the sides using the FLLX and FRRX arcs. In 2265, a twin phaser emitter with be added to the bottom of the engineering hull that covers 360 degrees. The entire vessel is pearl white with the TMP aztec pattern, minus the strongback plating.

This image is the only one that I have left of this design andI understand that it's pretty crude. I can make orthographs if required. I am desperately hoping someone will take a crack at it but I also understand if no one wants to. Thanks for having a look and thanks, modders, for all you do. Glad to see some familiar names still out there.

I made Gabe Korner's Enterprise, but could never get permission to release it.

Edit: added some pics. :)

Yeah, I like Koerner's design a lot. But I've always figured it anyone ever made it they'd need permission to release it. Plus I'm less crazy about the evolution from his design to the refit. I was aiming for something less farfetched (to refit, not to envision). But Koerner's E is beautiful and I hope one day you can release it.

Never got a response from him. I messaged him at a couple of sites and emailed him, but no response.

Why do you need his permission to release your model?

Hello  Rod
I understand that its the right thing to do to ask Gabe's permission to release a model based on his design.  Its a good first step but I think that there are
enough differences in your model and Gabes version to allow you to release it to the SFC community.  Yours is a derivative of Gabe's design
like he does the same for the Paramount version of the Enterprise. You did create the mesh from the ground up with out using the Gabe Mesh in any way shape or form.  This is just my 2 cents on the topic.   :)  Would be a great addition to the fleet.

Thanks, Adam. Maybe I was just unlucky with previous requests. I'd like to put it out there for everyone.

I don't see why he would say no. As I understand it He lost the original model in a HD crash and has been rebuilding his using the WC version as a reference, and that ships been up for almost 2 years.

You know a ship I would love to see you release is the Federation CX cruiser, that was an amazing ship you previewed for us a few years back. Here is the link if any of you have forgotten about this beauty!
