I've heard from some Canadian friends that French Quebecan seperatists want to leave Canada so that they can join the United States.... as a new state.

I don't think most would join the US, they want to be their own govt. They'd only join the US after they're own govt. didn't do so well...

And then...the US would probably accept them...IF it didn't mean war with Canada...

However, Quebec would still be just as unhappy under the US as it is under Canada. Probably not much win for the US there. Maybe a win for Canada if they dislike the US though.

The whole thing sounds like a silly intertubes rumor. Quebec sepratists have been talking about leaving for decades to start their own thing. I doubt they want to joind another country, ket alone the US

So Quebecois want independence and to get it they will join the U.S.? Something is wrong with that picture.

The PQ used to claim that if they left Canada they wouldn't take responsibility for any of Canadas debt but would then buy into the U.S. debt? Again something is wrong with that picture.

I think the political correctness crowd in DC would bend over backwards to accommodate the language requirements. Personally Ontario would be a more valuable acquisition and there would be no language barrier other than the constant uttering of EH.

Well, we do let Puerto Rico use Spanish as its primary language. Although we would resist efforts to require French fluency in other states.

It will never happen as there a lots of English people in Montreal and what about the Canadiens Habs.It would be nice to have Califormia as province.

Not really. The population of California is larger than that of Canada. A little hard to assimilate them. Their debt is also a problem.

I'm french Canadian and its not what they want. They lunatic of separatist want Quebec to became a Contry, but still using Canadian money with out responsibility.

Its just a lot of talk and no preparation or plans.

They would never want to join the USA since they would be force to speak english and the bill 101 and other like it will be invalide. They might want to use US currency, but that all.

They way the talk is, if Quebec separated from Canada, all will be fine, it will be a paradise.

Not enough millions to make a difference. Their debt apparently is hard to estimate due to government efforts to hide it (a really bad sign) but it seems to be greater than Canada's at its max and going higher constantly.

If Quebec became independant from Canada what would happen to Nova Scotia though?? They would have to travel through the seperated Quebec province to reach the rest of Canada.

Would Quebec revert to its original name before the 7 Year War of "New France"??

If George Washington hadn't started what became the 7 Years War and if the 25 minute long "Battle Of Quebec" had gone the other way so that the British lost a whole more more than General Wolfe and 40 other casulties (French casulties were in the thousands due to the British using of cannister shells and rapid fire well aimed double shot musket volleys into the charging and subsequently fleeing French troops), The United Staes would never have existed as France would have subsequently been in a very strong position to annex the English colonies there.

North America would have been a large French speaking country, most likely called "Greater France".

World history would have been a whole lot more different.

Britain would have most likely sided with German in the 1st World War. The Nazis would never have existed and millions of lives would not have been lost in World War 2 as it would not have happened.

Japan would have conquered China and most of the Pacific pretty much unopposed as only Britain and Holland would have been involved in any millitary resistance.

The Soviet Union would have easily annexed a larger part of Europe or all of it.

The United States has had such a major part in shaping world history that having it replaced by a weaker enitity would have changed everything in a detremental way.

This is probally giving Fedman and a few others nightmares....
