This was just on the local news and I thought it was interesting. I am going to go out on a limb and predict that this marriage will last longer than the Kardashian 's did. :)

Leap Year Day Wedding

Posted at: 03/02/2012 4:47 PM

Eric and Bonnie Beste are newlyweds. But they almost weren't, because of the blizzard on Wednesday, which was Leap Year Day.

We asked them at their home on Friday, why Leap Year?

"We thought it would be fun. And it worked in our schedules," Bonnie explained. Plus, they only have to get gifts once every four years for their anniversary, and she said she expects a big one on those anniversaries.

But on Wednesday, the blizzard pounded the Twin Ports. It meant the courthouse ceremony in Duluth, was in jeopardy.

They didn't give up. Eric went out and picked up the judge at his home!

"I showed up, and he had this look of surprise on his face. When he heard Bonnie had the vows at the house, he said, well I guess we better get you married," Eric remembers.

On the way back to the Beste home, the men stopped to help a woman who was stranded on Highway 53.

"I looked at the judge and said, this is another chapter in our story," Eric laughed.

They made it to the Beste home. But Eric still had some plowing to do. He got stuck, but eventually made it back home.

About two dozen people were able to make it to the wedding at the house. The judge even cracked a joke in the beginning.

"He pretty much said he'd never been kidnapped before. And I went, oh boy!" Eric said.

The couple's planned dinner at their home wasn't able to make it. So they improvised with frozen pizza and bologna sandwiches.

However, their cake did make it.

Bonnie said, "I had a special cake ordered for Eric. It's a replica of his boat. And the bakery said they were going to get it to us!"

Eric was floored.

It's a wedding day that they'll always remember, for more than one snowy reason.

The couple said even though they had some bumps during the day, Bonnie summed it up. "It will always be an adventure. Don't stress about the little hings. In the end, it was perfect."
I am alright, it is the world that is wrong.
