One in a million dog....

... and she'll probably cost me a million in the long run.

Just got our Chocalate Labmaraner spayed last Friday and she developed an infection of the incision site by Tuesday. Quick visit to the vet for a cleanup and stronger antibiotics yesterday. This morning she's at the front door and barks at something. Out pops part of her intestine through the incision. She keeps barking, more pops out; I nearly sh*t a brick.  :o  A minute later I've got her gut wrapped in a towel around her, haul her into the front seat and my 5yr old son into his car seat. She jumps into the back seat with him, gut hanging out and buries her head in his lap. I'm driving one handed and reaching behind to push her body down so that she doesn't drag any more gut out. And of course every freaking slow poke out for a morning latte is in front of me.

Thankfully the senior vet was on call this morning and his staff is on the ball. We've got her back with us tonight with all her guts back in place and a staple line up her belly. If she can avoid infection in the next few days she should pull through OK.

So what unexpected pet adventures have you folks had?

I'd be angry at whoever did the shoddy operation in the first place.  I hope she recovers okay now.
