Yup, thats what it takes. I would also suggest afterwards you 1) scan with AV, Malwarebytes, scan for rootkits, and 2) install updates...
Regarding updates: not to dis any particular kind of browser/software flavor, but I've seen poeple get this using Chrome AND IE, etc... Thus my take is just update whatever it is you use OS and browser...
In some cases, with repeat offenders (people who have a habit of getting this bug somehow by the sites they visit, and yes it can happen other ways than just 'the typical' sites) I suggest they get a subscription to Malwarebytes (or try that free trial for a while). Its drastic, I think, to pay $$$ and it running on top of AV, so it slows things down, but its the only way for people who just keeeeep getting this bug. And for some reason this bug invites repeat offenders... So I would view the Malwarebytes subscription as a very last resort.
As of yet, I've not had anyone come with it again after these preventative step... but you know how this battle goes...
