Reconnaissance Cruiser Explorer Class

How hard would it be to make this ship?

Damn cool design!  Warps need to be farther apart but thats just me.
Feds are easy its the proper maping and glory texture work thats hard.
The hardest part with a Tmp fed in my opinion is to make the warps .  The rest is makeng cylinders or spheres and shapeing them to fit.
For me 2 or 3 hrs to get the hull right another 2 or 3 hrs makeing warps and fixing errors. max poly 2500. 2 to 6 months maping it right and another 6 to 12 months creating art textures that end up lame anyway.

interesting ship but what is that canvas 11 program thingy?

Kreeargh, if it is Fed testures you are working one you already have all the pieces you need to make them. You would just have to cut and paste from the files I sent you to a new texture with a little cleaing you would have textures.
People always said they wanted the government to listen to them and now the government is listening, taking notes and names...and coming to see you soon!

Someone who saw my Resurrection and other Trek renderings on DA asked me if this ship was ever made, and if not, if I could make it, or knew someone who could.  I can make the warp engines and saucer without much trouble.  In fact, the Resurrection nacelles I can use for this ship, with some minor modifications.  Rest of the ship though, since I don't have an actual 3D model to work with, it's hard for me to really see certain parts of the design.  I haven't gotten the hang of making 3D objects from 2D images.

well willey could do it over at BCU you should see the JJ/tmp crossover he's got.

I love the design though, but I notice some of the pix aren't large enough to see the lables for everything..and I am kinda wondering what the blob on the bottom is described to be?

I doubt anyone over at BCC would actually model it, they tend to have enough of their own projects.  I was lucky enough to get Wiley to map the Resurrection for me and Bones to texture it, and both Wiley and Baz to port the model over.

I know what you mean about the pics not showing enough detail.  And that blob you're talking about, the one that jets out under the ship in front of the warp engines, I imagine that's the deflector assembly.

an other pic of it is here: http://www.shipschematics.net/startrek/images/federation/reconcruiser_explorer.jpg

btw this "design" is totally ugly kitbash

the U.S.S. Endeavour NCC-1716 is a Endeavour class heavy cruiser design based on the Constitution class, some designers don't have enough knowledge of older ship variants and taking names for their designs whithout care.   >:(

I think you can do this.  You said you can get the saucer and nacelles done so that leaves the neck the hull, struts and deflector assembly.  The neck looks to be a straight connie one that is mirrored on the half that connects to the deflector (its just a bit shorter).  the hull is just an extension really of the photorop assemple, the hardes part will be making the opening look right and then from there is looks like it goes straight back w/o much tapering.  The deflector assmbly seems to be a cylinder that tapers on the back side.

I think you don't give yourself enough credit, if you can do your resurrection, you can do this one ;).  Bug me if you want to pick my brain on this.

One major difference though.  I had an actual 3D model to work with when I was making my Resurrection.  Like I said, I can't exactly do 3D models from 2D images.  However, I'm wondering if I can kitbash the model.  That or just build something similar, so I don't have to worry about making it exact.

Bah, the only difference is that the 3d model is in your head...  Heck this on has 3 views, so assuming they are scaled right you can place them on planes to use as guides.   And don't worry about making it exact - sometimes whats in 2d don't look all that great in 3d and requires some tweaking.

Its the Truth! mod the verts .  Vert placement is key to creating a model without that skill of moveing a simple point 3d modeling is not possable.

I can't do planes.  :-(  Tried, never worked.
