using Illustrator instead of Photoshop for textures
« on: November 20, 2011, 01:27:32 pm »
Has anyone had any experience with using Illustrator instead of Photoshop for textures? I've been trying my hand at it and while its a bit of a workflow shift the results are incredibly sharp.

No experience but I have heard of people using it. One of the first texture tuts I ever saw was using Illustrator 4 or something.
The pen is truly mightier than the sword.  And considerably easier to write with.

Like I said: I'm starting to get a handle on the workflow... It has so much more potential than photoshop.

Anyone know if SFC can handle PNG textures?

Illustrator really kicks bottoms with laying down aztec patterns and stuff, and you can port them over to Photoshop too if need be ;)

Anyone know? I've not had a chance to reinstall Max4 or SFC since last format.

Have you ever used Paint Shop Pro?  I use it exclusively mostly because it is very afordable and with some clever techniques you can make some great art with it.  Unfortunetly, it is no where near as sofisticated as Illustrator and Photoshop.

As for .PNG files, I never could make .png files work right with SFC (I use .bmp's).  On the other hand, I hardly play SFC anymore anyways so...
