Constellation Refit WIP...
« on: June 28, 2011, 05:37:20 am »
I'm back with another refit project of another TMP ship, the Constellation Class.  Right now she stands at around 4900 polys, but there's much more work to be done, as you can see.

TNG era most definitely, post 2360.  Just my attempt at revamping the ship class to show upgrades and refits as technology developed.  As with my other designs, not much will change except where I feel it adds to the ship.  She'll have phaser arrays, and I'm thinking something similar to an Ambassador setup with the phasers.  I may or may not keep the aft facing torpedo bays that I've added to the model.  I wanted her to have some aft weapon's coverage, since all the reference images I've seen don't seem to show the ship having any aft weapons coverage.

The Phasers have good aft vision on the studio model so they should have been able to cover back there but the model had no aft torps just like Constitution. Yous looks good so far :)

i would let those aft torpedoes in, as this could be a feature of the refit and be helpfull in the advancing of the "Picard maneuver"  ;)
and i hope you give it completely new, more TNG style nacelles, not like they did on the show with those Mirandas.

I won't be using the TMP warp engines, however whatever engines I design won't be over the top, and have some elements of TMP nacelles.  I haven't gotten around to modeling the engines though, only really going over in my head what I might want them to look like.

I've wondered if I should put in pulse phaser emitters next to the torpedo bays.  I don't think I will, cause it might be a bit overkill even for my tastes.  And keep in mind people, this is the same individual that refitted a Constitution Class to have enough firepower to take out a Sovereign Class.

Oh, if anyone has any thoughts or ideas for a new impulse engine design, I'm open to suggestions.

Oh he is.  In fact, I've been using his images as references just to get an idea of scale, position, concept, and components, and they'll come in very handy later on when I make some of the smaller components.

I do need to get back to work on this ship.  I hit a major brick wall, but I will get back to work on it soon, just don't know when.  I have no idea how to design the impulse engines, so if anyone has a good idea for a new impulse design for a Constellation, I'm very interested in looking.

Look at a bee hive design it on that. It will rule in the end. ;) , thought on grill work . Design parts - thoughts go with standard tmp design but make the bubble part your own? It will mix the themes well.   Screw the bubble  make it Tng theme but lack the tech of tng . Hard to explain .
