Sci FI Poll 34: hodge podge
« on: August 07, 2011, 02:47:17 pm »
Tron (1982) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084827/

vs.

Dark City (1998) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118929/

Going to start winding down Bracket one over the next few polls, so we can be ready for Bracket two In Sept.

So some of these won't match up very well, but they where on the master list.

This is a bracket contest?  Just thought it was one on one just for fun!

In that case, save yourself the effort: STII:TWOK will obviously win!
 ;D

With that silliness aside, I voted for Tron.  Yeah, some of the concepts are now quite dated, but it was one hell of a cool ride when it came out.

Plus, I haven't seen any Dark City arcade games in the arcades... I spent many a quarter racing the light cycles

Apparently, the Space Paranoids game is still online:

I was thinking the same thing.  If Dark City was better then Tron, where is the video games??  I spent way to much on tron and tron:deadly disks (or whatever it was called)

LOL, yeah, I'm taking the winners of this bracket, and then we will throw them up against each other next month. But yeah, ST2 I imagine will be a winner.

Arcade games aside, Tron was a horrible movie.  All it had going for it was the arcade game.  Dark City was cool.

That Space Paranoids I linked to actually isn't  a bad little game.  Makes me wonder how cool it would be if it received the full treatment (tank upgrades a la Vindicators, objectives, etc.).

Made it to Level 15 after continuing a bunch of times.  And had fun getting there!

Look at it from the eyes of a programer vrs the greed. I think that was the plot idea. Greed tryed to kill him off but he wins in the end.  :-X Just a guess here. Even now with a new movie they cant get that damn glow suit to look right he he.

Tron: Uprising
Pilot in January 2011.  Hopefully this comes out on DVD for those of us without satellite or cable...
