Arrows need to point to the INSTALLATION thread where EVERYTHING you need from loading to patching to upgrading your OP or EAW game is located. Does this exist yet?

From my realm of responsibility it is. See: To login to the Dynaverse on Orion Pirates - short version Fleetpick (or the enhancement pack) are not included in my definition of everything you NEED.

I can't support the Enhancement Package as it is Pestalence's and I am not intimately familiar with the details of it as he would be. Perhaps if one were to send him an email asking about it?

Some logical things I would try... find the original installer for fleetpick. Install it to a non-virtualised forlder. Observe the result. But having never installed fleetpick on Vista/7 this is just a wild guess.

Currently I'm working on a three step process: EAW 2.0.0.2 (CD install) -> EAW 2.0.3.6 (last patch) -> SFC:CE 2.6.0.0 (our patch) I will fully document the standard procedure for this when the time comes. (though I have stated it in dozens of places already). Next stage will likely be a two step process EAW 2.0.0.2 (CD Install) -> SFC:CE 2.6.0.0 (our patch) and then finally the third stage will be SFC:CE 2.6.0.0 (CD/DVD install) fully functional on XP and Vista and 7 in a single button push, one need not even wake up...

I am rather focused on the work of doing this now, and it is happening for sure, no BS from THIS team and it will be done sooner than later. (at least stage one) So I don't really have time for continuing to support long and involved multistage installation procedures for SFC and legacy add-on products right now. I hope you understand. Perhaps others will have the patience to re-summarise that information or compose new posts on the subject.

For me it would be unnecessary duplication of effort and amount to spinning my wheels right now, and currently I have good traction and I'm not letting go.

Short version: bitchy developer says don't bug me, I'm busy, ask someone else.  ;D  (not to be mean at all, but I really am quite busy and highly motivated to keep working on stuff that I know will make all of these issues obsolete in time)

Though it occurs to me that if you wanted to, you could start filling in our totally neglected Wiki with such articles in an organised fashion.  I went to the trouble of installing it and skinning it, but not a soul has used it.  :(

I was replying to Dizzy's question more so than yours. Should have made that clear.

Did you catch this part?:

(when I say non-virtualised - I mean do not install to "Program Files" but to a subfolder of a folder of your own creation such as C:\SFCStuff or something like that.

The other logical thing to do would be to determine who the author of Fleetpick is and try to contact them.

Perhaps some others may have more suggestions. I did not mean to put you off. (Just ragging on Dizzy, I know he can handle it. ;))

Hey, Adam; it's been awhile. I have not done anything with SFC using windows 7 so I have no idea why Fleet Pick's dialog is shrunken. I offered the source code to Firesoul and asked if he could host and update fleetpick at his convenience but he rudely made it clear to me that he does not like the program and it was not worth his time. So the only solution I can think of is to upload the source code on Dynaverse with the hopes that someone can resize the dialog and re-compile the program using c++ 6.0 and the Taldren API.

Beeltejuice!  ;D Cool.  8)  Ask and ye shall receive. The author himself!

Go ahead an upload it to an appropriate ftp folder (see resources thread for community ftp login) here and we can take a kick at it when we get a chance. (any reason you're unable to rebuild it yourself?)

Thanks for piping in!

Ah... we have a procedure for setting up VC6 on Windows 7 if you are interested. (just sent to you by PM, original by SFHQ) Go ahead an upload your source anyway, and if you don't get to rebuilding it then we will give it a try at some point. Just let us know what folder you've uploaded it to. (should be one of the "upload" folders... actually the root uploads folder should do fine...)
