Topic: Help needed bug crashing game to desktop SFC OP 2.552 (Read 1840 times)

I just installed SFC OP version 2.552. Unfortunately, I'm running into a problem that I've not experienced when I've run OP with an earlier version patch: when missiles come at an ESG ship with the ESG on, and the missiles hit the ESG, the game crashes to desktop.

If anyone has experienced this error, please let me know what you've done to fix it.

What you need to do is a fresh install uninstall of the game and then delete the game folder.Then do a fresh install and only using the 2552 patch no others needed.What you have done is corrupted your game by installing patch over patch.

Thanks for the thoughts, but I actually did a fresh install and then ran the patch from 0 to 2.552 on the clean install.

To the Group,

Well I figured out the problem. It had to do with the game modifications that I was doing. We've run a TNG based mod for years (using an earlier version of SFC OP - prior to all patches). It's worked well. In this mod we used the Hydran slot for Breen, which used ESG as a main weapon.

Best I can figure, when 2552 was created, the game was adjusted for ESG / Hellbore interaction, and since Hydrans used Hellbores, well, let's just say the Hydran slot isn't too happy using ESG's under 2552.

So, simple solution, don't use ESG in the Hydran slot for 2552, and problem solved!
