Web space?
« on: June 12, 2011, 07:55:39 pm »
Does anyone here know of a good provider? I want to put some of my genealogy stuff up and cant seem to find a good/reliable/stable provider for a reasonable price. This is more for other members of my family than for myself. They keep wanting to borrow my files to make copies, so I thought I would put them online so they can get them whenever they want. Low price (or free if I can get it  ;)  ), space, and nice bandwith allowance would be good. Any suggestions?

Man, as cliche as it is, I'd check out Godaddy for names, domains, and server. Last time I checked they where pretty reasonably priced.

Don't use godaddy. If you look up the prices a domain name through them, they might end up reserving it and force you to go through them to get it. It was pulled by them years back on many occasions and happened to me once. I use Lunarpages for Robinomicon.com they've gone down a handful of times in the four years that ive used them and you can register a domain through them. I pay $129 every two years.

After some research I finally found a great web host. I am using IX webhosting and I am very satisfied with them. There is nothing to complain about. They have a great customer support and in my opinion this is something very important. So check out their packages and maybe this is also the right web hosting provider for you.
