Klingon X-Cruiser?
« on: May 13, 2011, 12:24:16 am »
Has anybody seen this yet? http://www.modelermagic.com/?p=30016

It has design elements that look similar to WZ's Stawart class. I think it would make a seriously cool contemporary of the Late TMP X-Ships, although the intent appears to be a JJ-ised Klingon Cruiser.

The basic shape is old but those details look good.   JJ fan for the models  :knuppel2:

The site the picture links to shows the bottom as being less flat.

I have mixed feelings about this being a Klingon X ship but I do like it better than the JJ-prise.

Are those ball turret disruptor banks on the aft hull?

Looks that way to me. I'd like to see a schematic though...

Yeah, the topside details are incomplete . . . a work in progress. The reason I thought it would make a good X-ship is it looks like a hybrid of TMP and TNG, perhaps a developmental step between the Ktinga and Vorcha.

This is one of the reasons why trek fans shouldn't be dismissive of JJ-trek.

I was looking for ST models and happened across it.  Too bad the models that made it to television and the big screen were not as cool.  I didn't like any Klingon ship after the first movie.

Wow!  That is a really great design for a Klingon ship.  We hardly ever saw concepts of what a Klingon X1 ship would look like.  I always considered the Vorcha class as more of an X2 era ship (something comparable to the Ambassador class).  Nice job!

There's been an update that seems to complete the upper panelling and the nacelles! Bloody awesome looking. I don't have the skills to tackle her or I'd be seeking permission from this guy! http://www.modelermagic.com/?p=30701

Perhaps someone who is particularly good at Klingons . . . WZ? Raven?

OK, I couldn't let it sit, Mr Long has approved an SFC version of it and has offered to provide a schematic and orthos of the model when completed!  ;)

Always nice to see a new Klingon vessel being brought to SFC.

I can't wait to see who tackles this.

Richard has even been approached by a few Star trek Gaming Companies to utilize this design in future electronic games!

Though this immediately implies the cruiser will be in the next Trek 11 game, I think it's just over-blowing "oh, some fans of SFC asked about this model."

this is way to modern looking to get a X-cruiser of late TMP, its more late TNG or post Nemesis like looking, it even has similaritys to those STO Klingon upgrade versions of the cannon ships

The rear part of those warps are ugly. The overall design looks like it belongs in the Enterprise C era right next to the Romulan Melak.

Call it early era trial cool warps to come soon i hope :)  I see this thing cool with vorcha warps a bit moded but theme the same. Each has their own in design theme.

The warps are part of the reason I thought it would make a great transitional ship. It has some lines in the general shape and the hull plating that look very TNG yet the shape of the command pod the nacelles, and the hangar are more TMPish. I kind of like the nacelles too, very traditional yet very different with glowy bits which again is more late TMP through TNG-like. I'd love a crack at a late TMP texture, I obviously don't possess the knowledge currently to model it and I don't see it as a likely candidate for 1st project so I'm elated to see AV start building her!  :)

For Klink the shown warps fit for many eras, but end result a moded vorcha theme
fit the best for last production tmp variants. I can picture a few carrier and freighter options also, and targ help the Klinks a hospital ship .  Just my opinion. :crazy2:

That's just because Klingon Carriers and freighters are few and far between :P

Fasa , fanon and sfb fanon have some 2d works , I have created some of them but lack of textures ect and blah prevents my release. Kf has released one.  Other Fan works have some also but not popular.

Good klinks are not as easy as they seem. There's a lot of FASA designs that make me cringe, and even more fan ones. This is a good example of the opposite, especially if it is taken in the direction of a Melak/Ambie-era craft.

I find I'm missing the shoulders of the D7 on this design, if that makes any sense. The pointy bits at the front of the main hull before it went concave and connected to the neck.

Too much Vor'cha. Not enough D7.

I see what you mean, and I partially agree with you - part of the reason why I hope it turns out as a Post-TMP Pre-TNG design.

That translates as Lost Era, yes?  It'd be good to see something Klingon from that period.. the only Lost Era ships we've seen pretty well are the Ambassador, Melak, and refits of TMP stuff (Obereth, Miranda, etc).
