Coming back to playing Orion Pirates after a couple of years. Great fun, but the same thing that made me quit last time is happening again
The problem is that the mission generator randomly stops giving me campaign missions, so I can't proceed i.e. I can't find any more campaign missions, just standard ones, so the campaign just disappears.. I searched around a bit and couldn't find anything. There's probably a simple explanation - please give me that! Here's the longer version -
First I started a campaign with my favorite Hydrans, the vs ISC campaign, and after I completed the first two storyline missions no more storyline missions came up. I did enough standard missions to upgrade to the battlecarrier and started assaulting planets and still no campaign missions. So I can't advance in the campaign, as far as I can see. I then remembered that this is what happened the last time I had the game installed too.
So I started another campaign as the Klingons even though they suck
and I was annoyed at having to give up my sweet ship, to see if this was a Hydran-specific issue. After doing a couple of standard missions, the 'peace in our times' mission came up. However, due to the Klingon starting ship being especially crappy (2 disruptors, 2 drone launchers, ph2s, no shields
), the allied ships being bad too, and the ISC ships having a boatload of plasma torpedos, I couldn't complete it easily
. No problem, I'll just buy a better ship beforehand, specifically a frigate, since I had read elsewhere that this mission won't trigger unless you're flying a frigate. So I reloaded, bought a sexy x-refit frig, and went looking for the mission. It's gone!
Travelled around several systems and nothing triggers the first campaign mission
.
So what's the problem here? Is there some way to trigger them? If not, how do I avoid the generator stopping them? I was really surprised not to be able to find anything about this, because it seems like a pretty huge game-breaking bug, which makes me think that I'm missing something here. Anyway, thanks a lot.
