Okay, I really like this Mackie! It would make a great perimeter action ship leader, or some-such. Great imagination on this.

Add two more warp engines to that please... Ark Royal style or even side by side. That would make a fine FBB, IMHO.

Mackie, any chance for some non Klingon Bird of Prey bashes from you? There are plenty of new Klingon and Romulan ships out there that could use your attention...

I left it slow & sluggish so that it would have atleast some weakpoints  ;D
I am however going to do a refit of the ship that will be more sensible than this...

and klinks yeah why not, i'll need to pester foas about his klinks for that ;)
the only reason why i never really made that many klingon bashes was simply because there never were many matching klingon ships around, until now!
mackie had caught me in a a day where I had a free couple hours between shifts. I uploaded all my MAX files for him to grab.
of which I am very grateful for :)

...and heres that refit I promised. what has changed?
a. excelsior saucer
b. custom pylons modified from churchill class
c. beefier nacellas from the ulysses class (tried few different arrangements with other nacellas as well but nothing seemed to fit)
d. sacrified shuttlebays 1 and 2 for more impulse engines stolen from an excelsior class refit
e. whatever the hell that thing is called thats now there in the middle of both dishes. found it on the churchill class so i guess it does something?

Yeah, I like the new version more :)

I do as well.

I have some concerns about the scale of the parts being used.

Are the Ulysses Warp engines really that huge in comparison to the Challenger class (USS Churchill) secondary hulls?

I absolutely LOVE the idea of using the Excelsior saucer. A+ idea there Mackie.

I had a thought about the Abbe torpedo pod, maybe it could be converted into a through deck hangar to augment the Challenger class hangars?

We need an equally cool Klingon, Romulan or other non-Federation monster ship to balance the coolness scale here too Mackie.

Well done!

I love how bad-ass those rollbars look from the sides. And what you've done with the engines on the excelcior version along with the deflectors.

Are you by chance planning the cour de lion as well?

the only things on the ship that arent to scale are the pylons (=somewhat customized), I used the scale of the parts that FOAS had provided :S
And no they arent churchill hulls, theyre a new jersey hulls which are about the same size and shape as those of a constitution class refit, maybe a little wider and longer.
Only those pointy things in the middle of the dishes I used are from the churchill :P
I suppose I could easily whip up a through deck carrier version of the pod, too. which also reminds me, i can do a small carrier ship with just the pod.....  and yall know how much i love flying bridges and  torpedo pods :D

I have the foas klinks available to me when i want em, as soon as i get back home to my place to my  computer i'll start trying to bash something out of em :)
I like them all  Tos and  :o JJ version please they will fill all era refits . :)
For a TOS version I dont have the rights parts for yet and whats a JJ version?
with a little tinkering i could do one more refit of it in the dominion war style, with phaser strips instead of tits and all  ;D

thanks, that kinda was the point :)
Ive tried making the cour de lion a number of times but i never could get it right but i guessi could try again since ive never tried it with these parts and its been a few years since the last attempt!

oh ;P while i shouldnt be the one to complain since I produce loads of anything-but-canonical style ships, I really didnt like what they did.
I was kind of okay with the ent series but the movie... well it was a good movie in general, i liked it for the entertaintment value but it was a sh*t movie as far as trek is considered.
I wish that the movies at very least could stick to the already established trek canon since theres plenty of lore yet to be explored but no, instead they seem hellbent on reinventing the whole goddamn franchise.

thank god for great fan made serieses and stories...

Okay, this will be my last new thread for another bash. -if ill keep dishing these out in the near future this quick ill just open up a "projects thread"...

As for the ship, this isnt very big or well armed.
Its just a large box with the ability to come and go under its own power that carries a rather large number of shuttles/fighters/landing craft... and commandos.
Supposed to be supported by the rest of the fleet, not intented to carry out missions on its own.
I think you get where im going with this :p

I wasnt exactly sure if there would be any ship type in sfc that would be a match for this ship, i made it with bridge commander in mind and was thinking of making it a mothership type vessel which it could be detachable from :)
btw, karu = "strange but kinda cool" in finnish  ;D
I am well aware knowing that is going to kinda ruin this for someone but i just couldnt think of a better name so...  :D

Nice work Mackie! Very imaginative use of the Oberth engines too. Thanks for the Finnish language lesson too!

Now that hangar pod should find its way on to the latest Abbe class to make an additional light carrier as well.

I'd suggest putting a shuttle in scale next to her to get an idea as to how many shuttles she would carry
Looks like she could carry quite a few.  ;D

Looks like some strange cousin of the Sydney class (Jenolen, et all). Very interesting.

Now if only SFC and the like had such places for these vehicles.

Doesn't feel massive enough to be a monitor (at least, I imagine them massive). Would definitely work great as a Police ship, though :)

yeah well I dont know how these things work out, as in class types  ;D
I suppose that police ship it is since its for patrolling already held systems, dealing with minor issues.

No worries. That's pretty much what I do: go for an idea and let other people sort out the details I don't want to bother with. Just thought I'd share my impression :). Btw: Your Trooper (and my rebash since) is what I use as a Fed Monitor. Btw: As far as the trooper, davids, firebrand, etc: Obviously if you want to come up with better bashes than what I've made: feel free, I'd rather use yours anyways :)

also: I took the liberty of merging all your topics into this one :).

Thanks for the merger, i was about to ask for you to do this anyway  ;D

I can definitely redo some of those, davids is a really simple ship so that doesnt really need any improvement (nor is there really room for any now that the design is what it is) though....

At your leisure/inclination; Figured I'd just state my intention to yield to you when it comes to your designs (a common sense "duh" thing to do, but I want to be clear). :)

YEEE! *grabbed*

Hey, btw, do you remember that other bash you made, it had a mini-saucer stuck inside the secondary hull, popping out on the port and starboard? I can't remember any other details >.<

As far as klinks, I actually can't think of any others, but you have a better bashing imagination than I do. I know the klink fleet lacks DNs (it only has 1 with another variant, plus the Light DN). It lacks on frigates, too.

I've tried to block out the horror of that *cough* ship...

I did like the Federation Ktinga.

Kitbash request: D10 with three warp engines using the Kelicos command pod and boom. The third Warp engine MUST be under the command boom for seperation ability...

Additionally, you Might want to experiment with increasing the D10 secondary hull by up to 25% (you'll know better than me about the scale) to give the Klingons a new off the shelf Heavy carrier.

Keep up the great work Mackie!

I actually kind of like that Riskadh refit would make a nice DN-conversion.

As for the others, I like them too :) the Pitkaranta would make a nice f-CM as well :).

Heres something weird and quite possibly downright ugly;
Misfit class and its variants, check lwos, yet again.
and no those arent torp tubes... I just couldnt fit one big deflector there so i opted to toss in 3 smaller ones instead.

Rereleased all my new bashes in 3ds and added a new category for them, moved the 3ds file pack for my older bashes into the said category as well.

should make it a bit easier for those who can and want to convert them for sfc2.

I tried attaching a couple of things to it but nothing really seemed right so figured that i oughta leave it bare, a matter of taste I suppose :P
Guess I could do one more variant though :)

tried that with and without deflector and with and without the pod and the deflector alone fit somewhat ok but then i thought it looked a bit better with nothing on the nose of it :P
ill make a version of it with the deflector yet, however :)

Hmmm, tossing another idea out there: instead of going with miranda pod, how about a Connie torp-launcher-thing. Hang it off the bottom slightly and let it protrude forward. Hang the sensor ball underneath that.

really, really great stuff! I even love the weird & ugly

just a novice talking here, but I gave a shot at using SCME to convert the LWO to MOD. No success

I'm pretty sure I have milkshape on an older box, maybe I'll fire that up later

I have this Altomesque vision in my head of two D-10s mirrored top/bottom with some type of connection between them. One command pod in between the two hulls. It has 4 warp engines but I can't decide if they are on top or to the rear of the engineering hull.

Got a few of these converted this weekend along with moving a guys daughter 35 miles and some remote work at my job this weekend.  Will upload one as a test, want to make sure that it looks right because in Modviewer on this machine, looks like I have normals flipped or something on the quick look.  (could also be just Modviewer on this machine though)..

It's Modviewer on that machine.. they look fine on another.  Twister is going to be a bit of an issue to convert, there's a lot of materials on that one.  But am working on it.

Shaker, Behemoth, and one more are converted now.. will work on the Twister ASAP.. (need to condense down those materials somewhat so it'll convert somehow)..

I thought there was a model problem but it was max screwing up..restarted it and the model had all textures in the correct place. I've niffed all the models now except the challenger, I think.

I can, if I'm pointed to LWO's.  ;)

Btw, figured out a workaround for the Twister, it's now converted to .MOD as well.

So, completed:

Pride
Shaker
Trooper
Behemoth
Twister

No HP's on these right now, the biggest challenge was to get the Twister across (32 materials with Max handling 24 on the import from LWO).

Mackie, PM me a good email address (or a place to upload), or else I can shoot you some links to something I have running, either or.  :)

Is Atheorhaven also converting the Klingon kitbashes you have done Mackie?

I hope  ;)
Ive tried a bunch of different klingon bashes from foases set but I just cant seem to come up with something that would sort of look sensible and at the same time, conform with my own "quality" or rather "complexity" standards when it comes to bashes  :-\
I just cant seem to settle with the sort of bashes that either add or remove just one or two things to or from a ship... that being said theres so far just that single one out that I put together.

Ill figure out something yet!
Fantastic work, as always my friend. You imagination knows no boundaries. FYI, I still plan on visiting ya when my health improves  ;)

Thanks! hope you get better  :)

hm?
you can find em either here in lwo
http://stupidfusion.com/files/kitbashes_startrek_lwo/
or here in 3ds :)
http://stupidfusion.com/files/kitbashes_startrek_3ds/

The new bashes are largely made from WZ sourced models which is the reason for the large amount of textures being used :)

edit: both 3ds and lwo packages of the ship that i have are fine but something is definitely wrong with the sfc2 version  :-\

I'll redo it and fix, thought that all were fine, but was probably a misassigned texture.

Usually to convert these, I get the mesh across and then have to assign textures in Max, usually works fine, but sometimes one gets missed or messed if I'm in a hurry.  :p

The Einherjer II is in hiding. Why else haven't we seen it since it's first appearance? The flatheads are too afraid to let the paint be scratched on their precious, Romulan cloak equipped, Ubership.

Yup, the  Einherjer Refit is definitely hiding... or its a flathead propaganda campaign at work designed to stoke the fires. This is an abomination and a threat to Klingon security. There will be no peace until this is destroyed by the Klingon Imperial Navy.

In the meantime, any chance for a kitbash of Terradyhne's Klingon L' rexa?

A two nacelled version exists here: http://sfc.battleclinic.com/docks/view.php?id=4014  I have been incorrectly credited for kitbashing this L'rexa. I have NEVER kitbashed any SFC ship just textures...

I would like to have a L'rexa with three warp engines to be used as a suitable alternative model for the Klingon F6:

its up!

btw, what exactly is the name about?
Quote from: encyclopedia mythica
The Einherjar are the heroes who have died with great bravery on the battle fields. These heroes are prepared in Valhalla for the oncoming battle of Ragnarok. In the morning they are woken by the crowing of the rooster Gullinkambi ("golden comb"). During the day they train and fight, until they cut each other to pieces. At night they feast at Odin's side and their wounds are miraculously healed.

On the day of Ragnarok, the bravest of the Einherjar will march with Odin to battle the frost giants, the enemies of the gods.
in essence, they are odins chosen warriors who rise from dead to fight again.
the ship was originally my idea for a ds9 type dominion-war frankenstein ship that could actually do something other than just blow up on the first strike.

I am having difficulty with my laptop (Windows 7) taking pictures with the F12 key. Otherwise I'd post pictures of the magnificant explosion the Einherjer Refit made when it blew up! Nicely done. Thank you for this fine FBB.

Now where is the L' rexa F-6 style kitbash? I have no doubt that Terradyhne will give his blessing for that and have sent him a PM about this topic.

Mackie - did you grab all the klinkers I retexed - somewhere in there might be a version of the L'Rexa that KF needs (not really understanding what, specifically he needs).

I am not a big fan of Klingon Bird of Preys/KBOP style ships. The L' rexa is a fine substitute for the KBOP in my corner of the Trek universe.

I would like to have a L'rexa with three warp engines to be used as a suitable alternative model for the Klingon F6:

http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163391192.msg1123020200.html#new

So I recommend starting with the standard 1 warp engine version of the L' rexa and add two warp engines to it where they already are in the previous 2 warp engined L' rexa kitbash.  Then it should be scaled to the same size that Firesouls' F-6 is.  That's what I was hoping for.

heres a couple of ships ill release sometime soon (or so i hope). ive been really busy this summer working on my car, i have an old 75 dodge dart with a 225 slant 6 engine, the crankshaft rear main seal gave up and pissed away all the oil which caused the engine to overheat real quick and caused all kinds of havoc... somewhat time consuming rebuilding the engine.
I wonder if anyone plays the game these days anymore?

That first one, the Nitrosis variant, now that's pretty sweet.

Even if they don't play so much, I do know that apparently we're one of the easier games to port from.  So there's always that as well.  :)

explains why some of the modellers are getting angry again.

Mackie, your stuff is always so cool looking to me, but that "not-Nitrosis" one is just amazing!! Those double struts on the nacelles - so simple but so rarely done... Very cool!

Tip of the hat for these latest!

Beautiful work as always... Thanks guys...

Question, when converting the 3ds to mod, do the ships always come out transparent....

Adam

Your polies are probably inverted, max has a way to fix it but can't remember what it was FOAS?

Two methods I know of:
1) If you're in editable poly or editable mesh, selected all the faces and there should be a button in the control bar called "flip" - press it.

2) Add a "normal" modifier. It should flip all the normals.

Now here's the real question. Are ALL the normals flipped or only some?

Beats me, when I rotate the ship on mod viewer it just looks all funny, how would I go about checking to see if all or some are flipped?

First method sounds simple to do, soon as I go home I'll try it...

If you see a hollow like effect its reversed/ flipped

Well you know I'll always be porting...except in the summer. I got some car crap to work on myself. I got a strait 6 that never seems to run right, 2 cb antennas to fix and a tree to remove and most of june felt more like fall except for the 2 100 degree days so everythings been delayed a month lol. I still plan on finishing the rest you gave me over the winter. waiting for the pix to get fixed on filefrotn so when they're released people will actualy download them. Those new bsahes look great too.
