SFC Direct?

What would it take to get SFC Direct up and running stable?

What is the difference between SFC Direct and the Dynaverse?

Would there be anyway I could get the code for Direct, debug it myself and host it on my own server so we don't have to depend on Gamespy?

SFC Direct is a little choppy, but I think it is okay as it is. If I remember correctly, you sign into SFC Direct with your Dynaverse account, so it is not related to Gamespy. There have been times before when GSA has been down, but SFC Direct has worked out well as long as we have directed players towards it.

Ok....found it..downloaded it, installed it..

lots of plugins, java junk.. So now there's this big white section in the middle....does that mean it's broke or what..

SFC Direct is an experimental gamespy replacement of mine (very rough) for direct tcp/ip game matchups.

I have not looked at it in ages. I expect it probably is broken after recent forums updates as it uses SMF's SSI.php.

What would it take to fix it? Some time on my part, perhaps not much. 

It cannot be used for a dynaverse login.  Is gamespy still down?

I'll take a look at SFC Direct tonight or tomorrow and see if I can get it going again.

Should not be any plugins. Just the one Java irc chat applet.

I'll take a look soon and report back.

Yes...Bonk it's still down....as of 3:00pm today it's been 4 day's

I sent a message to moderator there and got a reply saying maybe Monday due to the holidays...

OK. I think SFC Direct be fixed now.

Gawd it is rough... the mod chooser stuff is not finished... strat and I never got to it. Look - it detects the XP firewall! Ooooh... like it was something new... that should date it for ya.

I still like this concept, it just needs to be redone (I hate to say it - web 2.0 style). Wrap it in the forums, add some ajax and jquery effects... voila, it would be presentable...

I reset my modem and my router back to default mode and I'm on my wireless laptop, still did not have to open portas, shutdown the Firewall.. nothing it went right thru.

DATABASE ERRIOR....contact admin....

I did break it...  :-[  I forgot one of the account permissions after the move. Good catch ShadowDiver. I like how you've drawn my attention to sfcdirect twice now. I really did miss out, I could have turned that into gameranger or better... I will go over it again and make it more modern and efficient and slick. But I have a growing todo list. sfcdirect is definitely on it though.

I just bebop around these pages all day looking for things to do.. :coolsmiley:

I really wish I knew how to do the stuff you guys do....so maybe I could help out in some way....but sadly thoe I don't know squat about code, programing, digital 3D, scripts, mapping or any of that stuff, I just build home computers and network systems that's all.

And my love of SFB / SFC......I have been trying to use that Gmax program....but I keep getting some real bad headachs using it....I guess I'm just straining too hard and over thinking it...I'm much better at painting to mini's and creating the board setups...
Battletech by FASA was my true calling..... :smitten:
