I honestly never had such problems with any windows version I had. From an occasional win3.5 bsod to win7 hard loc. Never had the kinds of problems that people have claimed to have. win3.5 was fine, 98, 98se,ME,XP,Vista, Win7, had them all, except 2000 version but never needed it. Just minor things. Damn Microsoft and there OE errors its the only thing I can think of.  But if i had to rate them on the one i had the most problems with though, it would have to have been XP pro.

Maybe I'm just happy not to mess with things that shouldnt be messed with.

Its more aimed at the arguing over which OS in the thread. The biggest problem is OE errors.

I moved from 98 to 2k when XP came out, moved to XP when SP2 came out, and been there ever since - i like keeping myself an OS behind - means the bugs are worked out, mostly.

yea, but I find it funny that most of the problems are caused by OE's and then people blame the OS's for it. Literally XPsp2 gave me the most trouble outa all the OS's Ive every had. I'm not saying it was a bad OS's I liked XPsp2 myself. But I wouldnt rate it the highest Ive had though.

Heres the list In order I had from best to worst .

 1. Win7 Ultimate 64 bit
 2. Vista Ultimate 32 bit
 3. 98SE
 4. ME
 5. XPsp2
 6. 95
 7. win 3.5

Now thats just me. My own personal opinions. And the majority of the problems Ive fixed for people were caused by OE.  But yea Win7 is truely good, but you will want the ultimate 64 bit version.

And here I was making huge efforts in web development to minimise bandwidth consumption and optimise performance.

I guess microsoft is going the other way. This is why data charges on your phones will continue to rise...(I'll never own one)

Over 10 minutes at 48.8 Kbps... and  http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS10-090.mspx is still a blank page. Wow, these people are supposed to be professionals. :shakes head:

I guess Microsoft no longer supports dial-up. Does windows seven still support modems?

Truthfully, I just bought two new computers. Neither had a dial-up modem. I finally had to go broadband and installed a network.
