Starpoint Gemini

I've been tracking this game for awhile now, and what I've learned over at spacesimcentral it is supposed to be a lot like a starfleet command series (people playing say the controls are very much alike), with some rpg elements and freeroaming. Anyone knows something more? Oh ,yes, and it's said to have a toolset following shortly after the release.. I dunno, think I should bite on this one?

Dammit, I went over to GG and bought it! Got the manual before downloading. Seems rather nice ( though I might be a bit frenzied cause I want sfc 4 sooooo friggin much!) Anyhow, people at spacesim like it, OutOfEight likes it, damn, I soo hope it's SFCish:)

Will keep you posted after install!

The first official review of the game by James Allen:

I'm soon to install it, and see how it goes :) BTW, at spacesimcentral, there are some rumors of a startrek mod (by what I've seen, should be a sort of a SFC4 made by people for people )

"The Not So Good: Mandatory laborious tutorial, no multiplayer, limited camera controls, insufficient trade goods information"

no multiplayer is a deal breaker.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!

The tutorial is a pain and Starpoint Gemini lacks multiplayer, but there is good value for $30 thanks to important features and nice graphics. Starpoint Gemini is what Star Trek Legacy (and Starfleet Command, for that matter) should have been, and the robust career options and a plethora of role-playing customization features in addition to solid tactical combat only sweeten the deal.

Granted SFC does not have role-playing or any trading to distract from starship combat...but that's what SFC is!! naval combat!

I personally....would like to dabble in the trading/selling/barter aspects of SFC if there were such a thing, I mean what are pirates for, right?
