Not really. TNG ships have pylon mounted phasers and you have plenty of room at the stern of the main hull for phasers too.

You misunderstood.  The side phaser arrays are blocked mainly by the warp engines.  I already redesigned the phaser arrays on the ventral saucer to have a more practical line of sight fire.

I've also modeled the tractor beams that are located on either side of the shuttlebay doors.

This ship is the same size as any other Miranda Class.  She hasn't been enlarged in size in anyway.

I'll need to find a good Soyuz model as a reference.

New Renders.  In these renders you can see the bridge module, which is now complete, the new design of the ventral phaser arrays on the saucer, and the tractor beams located on either side of each shuttlebay.

First off, i'd like to say that this is looking sweet. I can't wait for the next release. :)

Notice that those same assemblys surround the connies deflector on three sides.

I went looking for the blueprints that I had from the Motion Picture, didn't find them, so I must assume that they are at my Father's house still (1600 miles away)  But as I recall those assemblies were not labeled on the Enterprise blueprints.  So as to what they are, I have no canon explanation.

I can make an educated guess however.  They are either one of two systems.  One, Hydrogen Sensors.  There were systems labeled as such on the schematic for the Klingon Battle Cruiser, but it was something that was missing from the Enterprise.  I would discount this however as Hydrogen is something that the Main Sensors (given that the Enterprise's sensor system was much more expansive than the Klingons) should be able to track without needing a special system to do that.

Two, they are redundant.  Federation design philosophy has always been, we need a back-up for the back-up.  It could be that they weren't sure if the new deflector was going to work in all situations, it could also have been they were afraid that one hit was going to leave their expensive cruiser stranded.  Either way, they placed those mini-deflectors there as a backup system in case the main deflector failed.  They used them exclusively on the Miranda because space was at a premium and didn't want that eye-sore of a dish hanging from the center of the saucer like they did with TOS designs.  I tend to believe this one more than the previous.

The Mini-deflectors you have placed on the enforcer, are a logical extension of the design, bringing it up to TNG standards, but still maintaining the TMP feel of the design.

Me again.  Got into the mood, and did some more work on the ship over the last couple of days or so.  Before you guys get your hopes up, I haven't done that much.

Anyway, in the images below, you can see that I've gotten around to making the main deflector pod.  I know it's plain looking, but I kinda like it, and to a degree, it's keeping in line with how I made the mini deflectors.  The aft I couldn't think much to do with, so I gave it some segments and tapered it down.  Maybe when and IF textures are done for this ship, maybe the ship's name and registry or maybe just the registry, or maybe the Starfleet Insignia can go there.  Don't know.

Also, as you can see, I made that ventral dome/hatch, whatever it is.  The ship felt naked without it.

Cent, I'm damned impressed with how far you've come in modelling. You're a stronger mesher than I am, for sure.

One suggestions, though, assuming you weren't going to anyways, I'd put a chamfer on the back and front edges of the nacelle struts. A deeper one on the back though. Here's a top-down of the Strut Cross-Section with what I'm talking about. Red is current, cyan is what I'm suggesting.

At this point keeping the poly count down is useless cause I've already gone quite a bit high.  Originally I wasn't going to chamfer the pylons, but you make a good point Fury, so I will chamfer them.  I rather like your idea.

She might be out massing SFC in polies but looks to be in the perfect range for BC and Legacy.

Ok, I think I've gotten the weapons pod design finally licked.  You guys tell me what you think.

NOTE:

Special thanks goes to WickedZombie, cause some years ago he sent me some concept renders for the twin weapons pods, and I think his design was really the only one viable for this refit.

She's not done yet.  Some more details need to be added still.  I have to find my notes, and if not able to find them, retrace all my steps for each component and try and remember what I wanted to do.

She's nearing completion.  I've gone over every area of the model, thinking over what else needs to be made that can't be done by textures.  To the best of my ability, the only thing left are the launchers and pulse phaser emitters themselves that go in the twin weapons pods, and maybe a hatch or two on the rim of the saucer for docking purposes.  If anyone can think of anything that I've missed, let me know and I'll review it.

In this update, I've finished the phaser array coverage on the ship.  There are now phasers on the top rollbar to provide dorsal aft coverage, and phasers on the pylons for when an enemy sucker punches the ship from the side.  Also, I've made a sensor dome.
