I played in an awesome SFC2:OP tournament on Gamespy Arcade last night, hosted by a few Gamespy Wizards (ladder administrators). It was great to see 15+ people online, with 12 actually participating in the tourney. I think they are trying to revitalize this old game, and it looks like it might work. From what I understand, these tournaments are going to be regular, so even if you can only make it once in a while, you know when it's going to be and can jump in if you're free.

Here is the calendar for info on past and future events (use the arrows at the bottom to change the month):
http://www.gamespy-volunteers.com/calendar/index.php?cal_monthDate=2010-05This was a friendly event and pretty laid back, so anyone arriving at 10:00 PM could still compete. Last night's tourney was a double elimination format, so even if you lost once, you could have a second chance. The terms were confusing at first (having players agree on BPV/era/map for each match), but it might change to be more traditional (having the terms chosen beforehand by the tournament hosts . . . maybe looking at how the ladder leagues did it in the past would help). As always, it is with the 2552 patch and Firesoul's OP+ 4.0 shiplist.
Hope to see some folks flying in the upcoming weeks!
