Gagarn and Tolstoy? Just curious. I got them retextured by someone over at BC so I can update the BC versions. I am too lazy right now to try them out and ofcourse need to make sure the author wants his textures released in SFC..but curious if there's any interest here?

I was never a huge fan of his style, but he was a good modeller for damn sure. Good luck with the permissions :-)

I wasn't going to respond on this, but I liked a lot of his artwork aswell. It inspired me to do my own
SFC modeling. Some would complain it was too simplisitc, but it was good artwork nonetheless.

Based off GAFY's styling with his white/blues.. it matches and is a good representation of that style.. so good work there.

No offense to GAFY or the style or similar styles, (because a lot of people like them) but it's just not my cuppa. Still prefer something that looks closer to what you'd see on the screen. :p

So maybe clarified with "does anyone who likes GAFY's styling and has something POSITIVE to say have any comments?"

None taken, I orginally did to have a different look for a personal fleet I was using. To mackie it was free readily available textures so he used them to give his ships a unified look. The blue look was first used in 2001 and by 2002 I was done with it and had moved on to a lighter blue the used from 2003-4. took a break until 2006 which was Cent asked if I could work on th Chabot, still like to use colours few will use.

Since I actually have about 4 seperate sets of styled Textures which set are we talking about here The dark blue, the Mackie Aqua, The light blue/green, or the Stuff Cent released?
The only ones I liked are the ones Cent released, I still too many mistakes in the other sets.

So no I don't have a POSITIVE comment on GAFY's textures for 3 out of 4 of periods, wreid huh?

It's not so much the blue/aqua as the white+blue/aqua for me. One of these days I'll pull the colour scheme into PSP and play around until I get something that I like.. but the white+ is the thing that makes me go .. ehhhhhH :/

But on the plus side, it seems like a lot of others seem to care for it, so there you are.

Never said other people did not like it, FOAS for an example took to the Dark Blue versions and used that as his basis for his future look. Mackie took the Aqua set and basically through Kitbashes made those probably the most reconized textures outside of the orginal authors. It started out as Contrast textures for a bold visable look to more blended in the end, on the later stuff that Cent controls. I personally like the later stuff because I like the blended look that makes details stand out more for a overall appearence that flows more easily. The other main reason I like the newer stuff better is that I do not see every mistake I made in them, I had gotten much better skill wise and had better tools as well later on.

I like the modelling sbloyd had done on the ships and I think the textures could be made to show off his skills. I like fresh looks to ships that have moved away from the normal look, as most modellers have improved the meshes from the look the tv gave them. sbloyd was a unique modeller I just wish his work got retextured to give his meshes the same unique look and quality his meshes have.

I'm not sure there's any I like that actualy need the work. I think I have a couple for the tos BC mod i was working on but I kinda like them looking as they are simply because they have that old tos feel to them. TOS ships weren't all that clear on screen so if they ships appear that way it's no biggie, it actualy adds to the experience. But furswift does want to try klinks and roms so perhaps I'll suggest a couple. Was also thinking of sending him some of achillies armada rom stations. Oh and I think furswift gave the ok for them to be released here so as soon as I double check the pm's on that I'll pack them up.

The Kligon one looks great the hydran one looks like it might need some remapping work though as it looks like the textures cut off in some places

Those starfleet ships are interesting, but they need new textures. Escpecially the white look needs to be reworked.
