Dynaverse Update / Star Trek ONLINE support
« on: June 16, 2010, 02:01:15 am »
As you can probably tell, we're gearing up for our next big update and announcements.

Yes, there hasn't been one in almost two years, I know.

It's unfortunate that the first story in the STO forums is about yet another colossal Cryptic marketing failure, but them's the breaks.

I'll also be updating you all on the State of the Dynaverse this Friday 6/18/2010.

Yes, you have a date!

:D

So head over to the STO forums and give em a good breaking in! We'll be adding stuff as we can for resources, etc.

Regards,
Vice President of Technology,
Dynaverse Gaming Association
Owner, CEO XenoCorp Inc.

I actually almost had everything ready to post, but as luck would have it... I picked Fathers Day weekend to try to make this announcement.

SO!

I'm finishing everything up, and then you'll have your announcement... Monday, 6/21/2010.

HAH! You thought I was trying to weasel out of the Announcement by feigning server issues!

:P

So we've gotten the updates and maintenance done, and found a bad hard drive in one of the servers arrays!

Of course, hard drive replaced, no issues... but we wanted to ensure the backups went smoothly as well, hence the maintenance page.

I'm going to post the update Wednesday night, 6/23/2010.

:D

Hey peeps, can you please confirm / deny the directory services are accessible and you can see, for instance, the forge?

I'd like to have multiple checks from different places if possible.

Logged in.  Been so long that my login information wasn't stored in SFC:OP...

But I can confirm that I saw The Forge and Strayy's Tavern.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback.

We're experiencing some additional issues with the server that hosts D.Net and related SFC services.

Bear with me as I try to figure out WTF!

Of course it always happens when I'm at work lol

We'll be down in about 2 hours for me to check out the server hardware internally.

I don't think any XC member is in charge of keeping servers running or setting them up anymore.

The forge should be up and running, I have restarted the Forge but since it's running under a service I can't tell for sure.

I'll launch it up out of the service level and see what's up.

All the server issues have been fixed, as can be told obviously by D.net being back up and as rock solid as ever.

While this caused a delay in The announcement, it  will be out within the next TWO DAYS.

Only the Tavern showing up, even after several refreshes. OCI shows the stardate still unchanged.  :'(

Still having some server issues?  Dyna seems to only be working intermittently.

Intermittently = whenever I try to play, it's down. I just tried again and still only the tavern shows up. The OCI stardate has still not budged from a month ago. So much for my 1499 missions. I just downloaded stray installer and will see about giving that a shot.

Well, I'm trying to figure out why people are seeing D2 servers "intermittadly".  I'm not sure why you can't see the forge, and I'll check it. It's quite possible there's a SQL table in there that might need some work, I'll get SFHQ to give the mySQL tables another look-over.

I'm headed to bed now, will take a look tonight regarding the D2 directory services before I go to work.

Ideally, I should have the announcement out tonight, as it's my "Friday"... but if it's a heavy night at work (you do know I work from 7PM to 7AM, don't you? :) ) then I'm not sure what I can do. That's what keeps causing the postponements, that and trying to see if certain individuals will reply to my inquiries... but I'm tired of waiting, and I know YOUR tired of waiting.

Tobin, we have backups of everything, we'll get this worked out.

So we'll forge ahead *cough* and I'll just excise the bits that I can't absolutely promise.

Regards,

Sleepy long night at work Frey :)

I've spent 30 years working shifts. Take care of your sleep needs first. It's hard to tackle problems without getting enough shut-eye.

Can someone please log into the Dyna and check to see if they can see the Forge.

I found and fixed the problem that was crashing the server on startup, after watching it maintain normal stability for 30mins, time to see if you all can see it, so please check. My connection is out of wack at the moment so i cannot check.
