The TOS doomsday machine looked like an ice cream cone.  :P

This one looks like the engineering hull of the enterprise crossed with the tailfin from a cadillac. Interesting.

Thnx mates,

Kreeargh: The DDM was, from my understanding (based on the dialogue in the ep) was theorized to have been created by a race, so this is an interpretation of that statement...when it was new, fresh out of the dock, hence all the armour and support weapons.
FW: Sorry mate never read that one...I am just re-examining my ideas from my previous one from about a year ago... Darkseid asked me a while back to to refine the design, but I never got to it... so now I have.  This is not the final drawing, but rather this serves to get me back in the mood, warming me up if you will to finish the design as I should have a year ago :) .

:-[ I thought the Ddm was organicly created. It never crossed my mind {with the TOS immages} that it was a machine .  I would love to see this in 3d , what scale is it ? Larger than a planet or just a big gun that eats up the planets guts when blown?   Tos scale its TMP starbase sized from what i see on the show.

Oh yeah, in the Ep, Spock and Kirk mused that the DDM was a race created thing,  comparing it to our nuclear weapons now, and according to either script notes, or comentary, or even heresay, its hull was battered down to the form that they encountered in the Ep, leading me to speculate that the DDM's weapon was its primary means of accomplishing it's goal, but it would have had other structures(imo) to handle other possible resistance.  The DDM was very unweilding, mainly going after planets to ace and re-energize itself to continue onward, So ships like the enterprise are far more manuverable and able to stay out of its limited firing arc (its why I added support weapons... those weapons, in turn, would be destroyed and subject to wear and tear without maintainence.  It's armour was also shown and speculated to be pitted from space debris and weapons fire, supporting the theory that the DDM original form was more than what it was when it was encountered by the Constellation, then later the Enterprise.).

As for size, the DDM was massive, off hand I would speculate that the DDM's length was greater than 1K but not much larger than 2K...  though if it did have a more ornate or finished-type hull,  a little bit more than 2K could work.
The Daystrom Institue of Technology website lists this:
http://www.ditl.org/index.php?daymain=/pagship.php?misdoomsday&PHPSESSID=e47d7375a9e3a20e2142a3455690247a
Dunno if I totally agree with that site(as in the ep the DDM seemed to change size in a few inconsistences, ie: the shuttle scale of the maw vs the Connstelation's scale later in the ep).  My version of the DDM will be 1.7K fully loaded.

Well I have to admit that your previous was more impressive. This isn't bad... in fact compared to the original it could even be another ship from the same race... Speaking of the previous design, think you could include the images of it in this thread... As I might be able to actully build it now.

In Vendetta, it's mentioned that they were build outside of the Milky Way (as a way of hiding it's construction) Was built to fend off the borg.... I will dig the book out and reread it. Post what it said, might give you a bit more something for some ideas

Here are the first two:

Sounds good FW... I'd be interested in what you find

That could've been. I didn't actually read the books.

Okay, I'll say it. I don't like the top down view of this version of the planet-killer it looks too much like TOS Battlestar Galactica. I do like the revised maw and the overall prehistoric armor-plated Dinichthys fish look.

I vote for the second one. If you were to combine the two concepts it would probably too visually cluttering, methinks.

the nacelles in the first drawing look too fedish. Might need to go a little more to the exotic with the engines but overall a nice looking ship anyways.
