What Era ? Tmp?  Looks sweet another multi use design  I see a few races from Scifi that it would work in.

I'm not sure how much I like the sphinx head, but I love the subtle hints at the D'Deridex

With connections to the Ankh, pyramids, and sand for a hull color, really it's the Cardassians that have the egyptian connection in all of Trek. The plating here DOES reminisce to DS9/Cardassian design though.

My first impression was how similar this looked to the Nadesico from the anime Martian Successor Nadesico. Has the head, extended arms, and drive pods, but the different areas are exaggerated differently.

Very unique, I must say.  But then again, most of your ships are.   :)

I like the overall design of the ship.  Instead of the head elevated as designed, I wonder if placed along the horizonal axis of the ships center line would look good as well.

Anyways, great work as always.  Now who is going to model the beastie?

LOL Smiley
Everyone who has seen the 'head" above the hulls has said it looks not right, but everyone forgets whom the Romulans were based off of... The Romans  Wink
look closely at the ship and you'll see what I was going after...  A Chariot.  Roms are not just about the birds and making their vessels just look like birds... the have a Style and Grace that originated with the first TOS BoP design and resonates in every design that comes after. Smiley
I'll have some refined schematics soon.

Romulan Grand Cruiser:

Thinking about this more :police: , Atolm remember that fed ;) the warps were the same in front  is that a design influence or whats that all about? I love the design just see to many similaritys among races. I can picture feds riping from romulan design thats better but a copy is hard to belive unless  a rom is on the fed design team  ;). Still love it I cant wait to see a version with all the poly bumpage possable the thing would look SOooooooooooooo sweet in the right lighting  {shudder} I get that G"ould stargate feeling from it also  ;)

Here's the Side view without the port-side hull-wing in the way to better show off the interior... more to come :)
enjoy:

Kreeargh:  The shape came to me in a dream, so I needed it out of my head.  I'm sure I get influenced consciously or not by everything I am exposed too lol.
I had a Fed design a while back, circa 2002, called the Spectre that had a very chariot-like shape to it, so anything is possible.

Very cool. Would this be a stablemate of the D'Deridex? I can picture a fleet of smaller ships being based off the same shapes and style.

Ask Paramount. They're the ones who insist on newer Romulan ships being huge and painted 'enemy Green' :P

Question for everyone else...Why does every Romulan design have to be super huge? Apart from romulans suffering from an extreme case of gigantoritus in almost all on screen material over a course of time?

I think it has something to do with the sneaky Romulans trying to make up for lost screen time. Think about it: they were going to be an ongoing threat in TOS, but the Klingons were cheaper and took the spotlight. They were going to be the baddies in ST3, but lacked something that the Klingons had, and had very little role in all the movies besides the newest and Nemesis. Even though they are the recurring bad guys in TNG, we don't learn all that much about them compared to the Klingons or even Borg. So . . . the Rommies do their best to make us remember them anyways.  ;)

I think I recall reading somewhere that Romulans had to build big ships because they needed a large chassis to support their Artificial Quantum Singularity power core.
"Your mighty GDI forces have been emasculated, and you yourself are a killer of children.  Now of course it's not true.  But the world only believes what the media tells them to believe.  And I tell the media what to believe, its really quite simple." - Kane (Joe Kucan) Command & Conquer Tiberium Dawn (1995)

nice job mate..  Id like to see a colored version.
