Ok, if you don't wanna know about what happened to me in the main Mountain Dew production plant 6 months ago, that's cool.

I can only imagine it has to do with that underwear. If I'm wrong, I don't want to know it. If it does? I don't want to know it.

Ok, question, what's the best way to UVW Unwrap the rim of a saucer.  I kinda need a step by step process.

Short Answer: Cylinder Mapping

Long Answer:
1) Grab all the edge polies and do a cylinder mapping
2) Make sure you rotate the gizmo so that the seam is in a logical place (i do it so that its in the rear, by the impulse engine)
3) Scale the UVs vertically so that the UVs are the proper proportion to themselves, instead of being really really tall.
4) Scale the UVs by-corner so that the entire saucer rim UVs are three times as wide as the saucer top UVs (this is to make sure the UVs are in proper proportion with each other, too)
5) Break the saucer rim UVs into quarters and fit them into the single UVW space (you can use the vertex snap to align them perflectly)

Have you got that? or should I do a video tutorial?

Tutorial, cause all that was way over my head.

Thanks to F_W, there's an update to announce.  The deflector is coming along incredibly well, and we've discovered a happy accident in terms of mapping combined with texturing that we're gonna work with.

Some more WIP images of the textures.  Right now what you see is the first steps of setting up the hull color.
