Authentication free security? - Passwords: what's the point?
« on: March 28, 2010, 05:57:23 pm »
 :soap:

It just dawned on me. An authentication free security model is required for modern computer users. (What's that movie? ;))

See, what is the point of a password if you have the computer remember them all for you anyway? Answer: none.

Myself, I always type my passwords in, as I cannot see the point in having them otherwise.

But looking at the reality of the situation, an authentication free security model is required. Perhaps unique sessions for everything? How then to idenitfy ones self? Um... oh yeah, I figured this out before - multifactor continuous biometrics. Hardware is required. But that is not really auth-free. It's just different and automated.

There must be a way to make computing secure and auth free as the password security model has become quite silly in modern implementations.

An authentication free security model would solve so many problems.

Hey, we have licensing requirements for motor vehicles. I think my computer is considerably more powerful than the average motor vehicle. ;) (pen-sword). That would suck though. No car, no credit card, no cell phone - the mantra of modern freedom. It would suck if I had to get a license for my computer.

There must be a way. Spammers would hate it.
