Ya w3schools is great for starters or review on lots of stuff.

I suggest learning to do as much as you possibly can at the command line for the best understanding of what is going on (and "scriptability" later), then use the gui tools for convenience when desired.

Roger that bonk. Basicly, I got tired of wow lag, and it has gotten worse over the last 2-3 weeks. So I compiled my own maps, and will simply make my own server via LAN. yeah yeah, I know, your not supposed to do that.

But I figure, they have a month of me not being able to play, them not helping to fix the problem, so I'm going to take a month from them.

I figured Mysql would be the easiest way to access the DB, and so far , it seems to work.

Not at all Risky, The easy way, is to use a repack, .net 3.5 , and MySQL.

The hard way involves a lot of SVN stuff with C++.

Also, the latest Repack is 9.0

Grab the repack, But a folder and file in the WoW directory, This allows you to decompile the maps.

Move the map folder back to the Emu folder. Launch Mysql, Logon.bat, and World.bat

Of course, there is a lot of settings you can play with also.

It occurs to me that you are still on satellite? In which case - very few if any games will work online satisfactorily.

Now there is a challenge for Space Navy Command. Make it playable online with latencies as high as 500ms. While that sounds crazy at first, since SFB is a turn based game originally - the noticability of lag effects will depend on how finely divided the turn in is time the server can resolve it impulse by impulse perhaps and update the clients every 8 impulses or so? Just some brainstorming on how we can get high latency players online.

That would be a dream come true Bonk.

But yeah, it's odd, I was able to play WoW without trouble for years. It's just been the last month or so, that Latency has went insane. The good thing though, is that with SNC, if it is held on Frey's server, it's a lot closer to me, so less latency (theoretically, It still get's beamed into space.)

I strongly suspect that WoW latency has a lot to do with the fact that you have a 2nd Generation MMO (Azeroth) and whatever they are calling it now 3rd? 4th? Generation MMO engine (Northrend) and they really don't like talking to one another.  Blizzard's attempt to fix it (Cataclysm) I think is a recipe for disaster.  I hope I'm wrong, but I honestly think Blizzard should have done a WoW2 instead of focusing on trying to fix the Frankenstein they have now.

People I've talked to that run Private servers say its almost impossible to maintain them because there isn't one complete server kit out there.  Every server kit out there is pieced together from sections of the real kit that were pirated in transmission, or pieces that some sympathetic developer snuck out of Blizzard.  That's why if you see a Private server in action, you'll find broken quest chains, boats that don't work, NPCs that wander way off their intended patrols.  But the larger problem is the communication problems between Northrend, Azeroth, and to a lesser extent Outlands.  Cataclysm is an attempt to bring Azeroth up to Northrend standards, and I have to wonder just how well that's going to work.  I suppose we'll find out in time.

I hear ya Lt. Q, For me, it's moot anyways, I'll simply play my 5 toons, by myself. If anything, I'll be my own GM also, to get around scripts.
