Is Alpha Five Malware?

Who are these people and how did they get on my computer?

I found an "Alpha Five Printer" installed on my system that I definitely did not install, nor did I authorise it as part of any other install.

How in the hell did it get there? Has anybody else been "infected"? Since I never installed this "printer" I am highly suspicious of a rootkit.

I recently changed from Clamwin to Microsoft Security essentials. Maybe that wasn't such a good idea?

yeah, I thought of that after posting... the sites are cool though. (At least with firefox and noscript)

It is a rdms product from alpha software with this pdf writer printer driver from amyuni. The question is how did it get on my machine? I wish I knew.

As this is exactly the kind of driver one could hide a rootkit behind.

Alphasoftware looks legit, but is this printer driver on my machine really theirs or is it a fake? I know I did not install Alpha Five.

I guess I should contact Alphasoftware and amyuni to get a list of their customers to see who may be abusing (or masquerading as) their product.

When I find out who is responsible for installing a printer driver without asking my permission explicity they are going to get a severe dressing down.
