Best puter monitor? 32LH40
« on: December 22, 2009, 12:25:09 pm »
What are your impressions? http://www.hdtvsolutions.com/LG_Electronics-32LH40.htm

So far lowest I've seen is $469 plus ship. Is 120Hz fast enough and 80,000 to 1 contrast ratio good enough? And what's better, DVI or HDMI from a vid card perspective?

Don't worry about contrast ratio.  Companies will inflate that number using some fuzzy math.  Yes 120 Hz should be fast enough however you want to look at the refresh rate, 2 ms is what you want.  5 ms and you may see some ghosting, some people think that 5 ms is fine but to each their own.  Hope this helps.

Ya, its got 2ms response. Wonder where I got 80,000 to 1. Has 70k.... hrmm.. well, heres specs. Seems like a bad ass monitor to me.
Q: These are the formats: Formats 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p_60, 1080p_24, 1080p_30  So what screen resolutions can I get out of it? And do all games support 1920x1080? Or am I screwed here?

You can get pretty much any resolution, though if you go below the standard resolution, expect some loss in quality.  Not all games support widescreen gaming (almost all new games do).  However you monitor will support 5:4 resoltuions, it will just give black borders on the side (usually at not loss of quality if it maintains the same height for the pixels)
