there's a few DY's with outboards. I was hoping for sharkteeth but oh well, it turned out beautifly anyways. You know, there's an awsome quality model of a comet over at BCC and the guy doesn't do textures, so the model is just kinda sitting there, it's much smoother but if you can do as good a job on that as ya did here it be one killer looking SOB.

When and where will it be available for download?

I am thinking about how I would do one of the Romulans (way out of character for me). On releasing these, I am pretty much sure most people would not use them in the way I will. Should it be just model, hardpoints, and texture, or go the whole nine yards and include the loadouts?

I have started and almost completed the mesh for the Clavicle. Right now it doesn't look like I will be able to get it very smooth, especially with the nacelles in the back and stay under my self-imposed 2000-poly limit (I have a new computer, so this is up from 700 polies). Here is the mesh so far . . .

Ok, here is the textured version of the Romulan "Clavicle." I felt pretty silly making this texture, but I think it turned out ok. I used some textures from Turbosquid.

not bad. Bird looks a tad too earthy.

An original design, this is an era star base. At the base is a large, deep space detection dish.

The ep indicates this was a reomulan war era ship. Perhaps you'd consider this one?

Not a bad design, but not high on my list.

OK, I am working on the Yorktown which is a carrier of sorts. It appears that this will be a good base model that I will be able to kitbash into the other heavy cruisers. Here is a preview. . . . Before anyone comments, I know that the texture is a little stretched and that the registry is the same as the Powhatan, I haven't done the textures yet, but figured I would throw these on to get the feel. See below . . .

Just trying to get one done at a time, FW, Starting to lose interest in the Earth-Romulan war stuff.

Does anyone have any recommendations for arming these vessels? Should I publish as kits (models/hardpoints/textures only), or should I go through and do all the UI stuff and make up loadouts for them too?

What I'd do would be not to worry about the loadouts for now.. get the basic ship completed.  Then even if you don't want to do the UIs later, you can still release the ship as is.  :)

As a master of starts and of finishing none, I have embarked on yet another original design. This concept is a Martian Colonial ship, with the idea that perhaps, while United Earth was fighting the Romulans, they were also having to deal with an insurrection on and around their Mars colony. As is apparent, the design takes cues from the SFM ships, but involve an integrated warp core. As always, I am stalled on textures, but may revisit it someday.

neat design - I like the idea that the UFP isn't necessarily the utopia - give it some dystopian qualities. Makes it more interesting, like.

Been messing around, but nothing worth posting. Had a HUGE test in April that I had to drop everything for. Then a good month-long breather. But don't worry, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. I finally got a mouse for my computer so I can start texturing the numerous WIPs I have.

FOAS has inspired me with the Shapeways idea for models. I had seen the site before but at the time didn't think it was that affordable. After looking at it again and seeing they are now offering new, cheaper materials, I started going through my models to see if I had any that were both continuous and that I thought were worth having printed. I did not find any I was thrilled about, so I moved on to my WIP folder and found one I started last month, updated it and now I think it is to the place where I want to upload it to get a price. For whatever reason, when I made a username and password, Shapeways never sent me a confirmation e-mail. I will try again today. I am excited enough about this model that I might actually make some textures for it. Some inspiration for it come from FOAS' postings from The Chronicles of Man. Once I make some textures, it is modular enough that I can make derivative designs of destroyers and carriers. I am disappointed about the front profile as the large "impeller" at the back makes it look square.

I widened the ship out a bit, got rid of the "atmospheric stabilizer" and added some more detail. I think it looks a little cleaner this way:
