Topic: Where can I download SFC3? (Read 4290 times)

Ok, I have been in open beta for STO. and after 6 days I can already see its going to be 55$ worth of suck.

I paid 6$ to download SFC-3 from an online vendor, and theres no auto install. Im basicly computer inept when it comes to that stuff. Cant figure out Dos Box.

Is there anywhere I can download SFC-3, hopefully with an auto install?

Im using Win XP.

I would be interested in this myself. I have a CD key, but my SFC3 disk must have been corrupted sometime after I threw it across the room.

To put it simple you won't get an answer here as this site is an official support site of that game.

To Anwer your question Ardak....No...Cant help you on any type of DL for SFC3...as Age mentioned...yes...we are an offical support site...not sure where you got the $6 SFC3 DL at...but unless they are licensed...they dont have the rights to sell SFC3...

We dont condone DL's of any SFC version in any form.

I can Suggest you go dig through the SFC3 file and see if there is an Exe. for Auto install....

But uness you also got a CDkey number....we also cant help with that...

We do have the means to generate SFC:EAW and SFC Orion Pirates Key numbers...but there is a formal request process with a requirement of proof of actual game ownership.

really? I dont mean to bash the game, but its about 6-7 years old. I thought there might be a legit place to download it. Allot of games can be purchased via digital download these days.

Im not asking for a FREE download.

Is it just not available for sale anymore?

Or do I just need to find a copy on E-bay or something.

Correct, the entire series is no longer published and we do not have the rights to do so (for now).

That is what most others have done. Amazon too. Though the prices can be insane sometimes - what I would classify as collectors item prices. Watch the bargain bins in low traffic computer stores, you never know...

Sadly, there are no legitimate online downloads that I am aware of, and we are not allowed to. The result is not the desired one; for anybody - now that I really think about this as it stands currently. (place elephant in room here)

I Looked. and found it, and got a DX 8 error.

But, After what you told me I really dont want to rip anyone off.

I Played SFC1 2 OP and EAW and loved it. Except for the dynaverse which was awesome online, but at that time the single player version was still buggy. Im sure its worked out by now.

Personally, I love SFC. I never tried SFC3 because My computer croaked before release and I could not afford to get a new one.

Now 8 years later, I have functional computer, and I cant find SFC for under 76$

which to me is just proof of its Timeless awesomeness.

timeless awesomeness... not really. If you loved 2 and OP, 3 is a serious disappointment. The reason SFC3 is so expensive, is that Activision threw a fit when Nemesis flopped, complained that Paramount didn't do enough to advertise the game and the movie, and pulled almost all the unsold copies of the game off the shelves. I wonder if they wound up destroying the recalled copies?

I would never pay those prices for SFC 3. I have the copy I bought at release, three comps have refused to run it, no patches or tweaking will make it run, it crashes after ship creation or doesnt even initialize. Its a coaster.

Not that I mind, nor have I tried that hard, since SFC 3 largely abandoned many of the things that made EAW and OP great.

Military Fleets don't do customized component ships. Period. The best part of SFC, to me, was flying what you got, and playing to the strength and weakness of each ship. For me, SFC 3 failed at that point, giving in to the shinies crowd.

really? Hmm, I still have my original SFC2 . OP/ EAW discs with the Keys still printed on the jewel cases. Let me see if I can find them.

Unfortunatly, My Optical drive is on the frits and I cant install any disk games till I get a new one.
