At first I though, what Fed made this matchup up...   Then i saw it was you DH... :)

Only hope is to keep making midrange passes out of P-G range and get all your hits on the same shield.  shoot at fighters ONLY when you can kill the whole group.   3x D5(maybe a D5L & 2 D5).  or 3x D7 or a FD7 & 2x D7...

Everyone has to focus fire and kill a target at a time and make ZERO mistakes...

Keep the hulls the same so the phaser/dizzy arcs are the same on all ships and fly it like you have only 1 ship...

It's a retarded matchup no matter how you slice it.  The BPV if a loaded carrier group should be out there...

To win this match will take hours, unless the fed is retarded...

Yeah, that's pretty much the way I see it, too....

So make sure you sack Starbase 15 BEFORE the homefleet arrives with the CVA -  got it.  In F&E the C8VK is available in 2274 (thank god!).
Who'd thunk that Star-castling was the root of all evil . . .

I guarantee that rushing in at all would have been suicide. The Fed squad had 12 PH-G's (and that's not counting the Fighters). You would have done damage, but you would have lost a ship for sure.

I know the C8K is a bit of a dog, but you'd leave it out of the battle?   If anything it can take a lot of damage and have a bunch of drones and T-Bombs.  3 D5s is just gonna get steam-rollered.

on the way home, I was thinking about using the c5 and or the c8...

but the frds are not supposed to be able to move fast with OLs.  to steam roll, the feds have to catch you...

the only way to win this is a saber dance...

you can break the shields.  even if they castle.  or pick off the DEs.

The rules should read that if you lose the escorts, the feds withdraw the CVA...

I don't have much experience with organized 3v3 fleet matches, but I agree with the idea of the three D5s flying in a squadron, doing the saber dance. But yes, they have to do it perfectly and not get closer than range 15 (they would be steamrolled!). The question is. . . do you pick a DN and two others instead for versatility/toughness, or go with the three D5s (or D7Ks?) since they would have an easier time with the Dance?

As I have posted, I like the D5 alot.  What it lacks in durability it makes up for in tenacity.

If I were the fed CVA Captain... I KNOW I'd have a hard time obeying that order.

If you were a Fed CVA captain, some admiral should be court martialed!

Variation 1

Slow Fight with DN & 2xFD7 (unless prohbited), attempting to stay at range, offer token drone and try to takeout DE and fighters before engaging mother ship inthe usual Kling way.  Targets of opportunity would be fighter squadrons... you fire at one only and see if you can kill it before it goes back intot he mother ship.

Might work, the Klinks only have 1 FD7 but sub for a D7K and you're on to something.   it's just a lot easier said than done.

Variation 2

Power fight with 2 MD5 (mauler), DN disr on overload, maximum defenses on drones, attempt to cripple the mother ship , tractor 1 for fighters and to prevent a DE overrun (similar to a hydran fusion overrun).

Maulers are useless in this fight.   You'd have to get VERY close for them to be affective and you'll eat a bunch of overloads and get run over by fighters.

Variation 4

Pretend a sabre dance with the maulers in close formation.   DN fires DSR normally at one DE.  Since Maulers dont have them it's perfect.   Wait for Feds to fire their proxies (something feds will do to counter a sabre dance instinctually) That would be the signal.   Then go in.

Variation 5

Same as variation 4 but seek to destroy/cripple a DE.

Feds aren't necessarily going to blow all of their photons as proxies in this scenario, and even if they do they're likely to focus all 8 of their proxies on the mauler.

You have to get in really close with a Mauler and fully charged battery at which point you will be facing a Fed. ship with overloaded photons.Your battery will be severly damaged and may not be able to recharge the battery.
