Help with error message

I found my SFC CD and decided to fire it up for old time's sake. I saw that the new patch required a clean install, so I decided to install it as well.

When I first fired it up, my mouse didn't work. My 2nd time, I got all the way to the mission briefing screen of the first mission in the Klingnon scenario. I got the following error message when the mission was just about to load:

which patch are you using?

Ah... well I downloaded it from Filefront... I assumed it was the same thing?

I'm gonna download this patch!

Did you install a mod first or anything else?Did you do exactly what the patch notes said disable visual themes etc?
