Google Chrome Frame

Quote
Enable open web technologies in Internet Explorer

Google Chrome Frame is an early-stage open source plug-in that seamlessly brings Google Chrome's open web technologies and speedy JavaScript engine to Internet Explorer. With Google Chrome Frame, you can:

    * Start using open web technologies - like the HTML5 canvas tag - right away, even technologies that aren't yet supported in Internet Explorer 6, 7, or 8.
    * Take advantage of JavaScript performance improvements to make your apps faster and more responsive.

I gave it a test and have reported in my webmap browser stress test thread... it works well.

Making your pages work with Google Chrome Frame is easy. Just add this tag to the top of the page:
Code: [Select]
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="chrome=1">That's it! Users running Internet Explorer with Google Chrome Frame installed will automatically have their pages rendered by Google Chrome Frame.

edit2: if you look at the history of that header and how google has now used it - pure genius. Sizzzle!

Hah! no more insulting broken icon on my html5 compliant page!  :P ;D

And the expected response:
Quote
"With Internet Explorer 8, we made significant advancements and updates to make the browser safer for our customers," a Microsoft spokesperson told Ars. "Given the security issues with plugins in general and Google Chrome in particular, Google Chrome Frame running as a plugin has doubled the attach area for malware and malicious scripts. This is not a risk we would recommend our friends and families take."

This song came to mind:

They are not too bad.  So when are they going to move down to the states to make it big (you know it happens to all your Canadian performers).  ;D

My favourite performances of theirs were off live bootlegs a friend had.

Ironic question, as they dissolved in 2004 due to Canadian content issues and Gordie Johnson moved to Texas and joined Grady.

Here is another good Canadian band that I got stuck in my head today. I  just love one of the lines: "I don't need no surgery. Take those knives away from me. I just want to die in my own body."

Which reminds me of:

My ghost likes to travel so far in the unknown...
alas, we cannot take credit for Pete's genius.

This tune of Wintersleep's rocks hard (Orca):

Which reminds me of another unique Canadian Talent (Rheostatics - Whale Music, 1992):

Sorry, went on a little musical adventure there.

the Chrome Plugin works great.. doesn't add slider bars to the browser however it does give directionals with center mouse button / scroll wheel.

Great add on.. this with ACID II compliance.. is making IE just a bit better.

Great find.
