cool stuff
« on: September 09, 2009, 03:57:27 pm »
i dl a program called playonlinux and have op running almost perfectly on it in single player. Only problem so far is sound is jerky but livable. here is the link  http://www.playonlinux.com/en/. it has some stuff added from other projects so i was able to dl and install the dx 9.0c in the program (bottle?) that is running op installed the patch,SFB_OP_OP i think the directory server patch also but since i havent been able get to the servers yet im not sure about that. Pestys installer didnt work correctly on  it so im doing all of this the long way but sofar with good results. Now if i had any idea on what was keeping me off line with it id give online play a shot. Any Ideas on that one Guys?

to install the game you have to do it manually ill try getting some screen shots or at least something fairly easy to follow as to how i did it tomorrow. This program is cool it has gui for all it little doodads making things very easy to install and work on. It uses wine.wine tools and a couple of other wine add ons and integrates them nicely. real slick program so far. cya all tomorrow hopefully with some good news.
I c you can also write scripts for it. Maybe a script can be written that would install the game and all the other things with just the click of a button or 2, not sure if it has that capibility or not since im not a programmer but maybe x fingers.

I gave it a spin. Kind of like it, but it doesn't really do anything new. Has a few quirks too. But probably helpful for some users.

I got stumped by my ati video card suckage. Radon X1200 Series and Linux do not mix. The open source driver is effectively 2D only and the proprietary one is out of date and no longer compatible.

I'll have to dig out my PIII system and Matrox G400 again for proper linux compatibility. (ALSA no likey Realtek sound either)
