Star Wars --&-- The Clone Wars
« on: September 06, 2009, 01:38:08 pm »
Hi all , some of these models dont fit in the SFC universe but i thought i would share anyway. Most of this release thread will be of ships but there will be a few buildings and droids I have made i want to release. Most models are new 08  and 09 creations made in Gmax but I will post links to all my StarWars creations/models here.  All the models i have created and released here you have my ok to convert to other games ,edit  the mesh/model and textures to your desire.  All i ask is Keep the readme with the model {include your credits in the file} and IF possable send me a 3ds copy of your edited model work and texture files so i can convert it in Gmax for my personal collection for sfc2 and 3. If you would like me to i will convert to sfc any edits you make if i can.

Nicley done!

Perhaps you might consider releasing your Star Wars mods to the SW: EAW community?

BTW, what happened to the Lego/Venator variant you started?

Im sure Nomada_Firefox will get around to converting them if he wants them but If any other EAW/FOC moders can convert from .mod they have my ok to use them  just credit me. I dont have the ability to get a 3ds file yet for any other games as these are made with Gmax. I was hopeing someone with max would post a 3ds file for each model so other game moders could use the models also.    The Lego Venator concept will be released in this thread in a few weeks if i can pull off some decent textures i am happy with.

Im sure there was a 3ds import/export plugin for gmax available somewhere.

3ds import is Not an issue its exporting that is and i dont think there is a 3ds Export plugin for gmax.
Only a few Game plugins were created for Gmax. Most game companys did not want to spend the $ for that only a few.
I  want to hire a programer who can work a max script with ease, hire him/her to make gmax plugins for Freelancer,Eaw/foc,Armada series, and Sins of a solar empire games. HELL  in my opinion games that are Not on the shelfs of normal companys like wallmart or your local game store should have the plugins released if they want the Game life to last that is.

I managed that once, I exported from gmax, using the tempest plugin for doom 3 http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/page-23664_25_0.html

I then used milkshape to import that model, and could then pretty much export to anything i wanted.

How about the fact you haven't Quit yet?

Well if i can get funding i have decided to try game graffic arts design and program schooling if i can find one online or by mail. By the time im 40 to old to matter in the industry i will be ready for hire

What next there are 10k in starwars models that not been done for sfc yet who wants to see what ? Im thinking about a 1st death star cutaway version simmler to what the 2nd looked like in Return of the Jedi but the mesh would be diffrent respecting the first death stars construction.

You know if your making a Deathstar, which is still under construction.... You could maybe try using Intersteallar Machine's Transparency technique..... Would make for some seriously massive and funky detail without you even needing to go over 10K
If i can figure it out i sure will try but you know me and textures dont mix well. Maping something like this might prove to be a bigger task. Hell my Mangaguard fighter hasent come out to well and i am on my 4th remap of the mesh, im releaseing it on the 5th try no matter what  :P

Well, I also recommend that you release this on http://empireatwar.filefront.com/ there are a lot of great texture artists over there as well who I'm sure would jump on tweaking any of the ships you release. There's a lot more active texture artists/model makers collaborating over there at the present time.

I can't wait for the Venator variant and I'm sure the EAW folks will jump on the chance to retexture it for you. ;)

I like your stuff, its too bad I don't have the time and tools to be more helpful these days. If nothing else, your base models and their texture sets can be used to represent initial production runs or squadron variants.

Keep those models coming please.

I do have a large # of models in eaw Nomanda Firefox has converted damn near all my older StarWars work. I havent chated lately but he has the ok to port my new stuff if he wants and Unitedstudios has the ok to use my work at their desire, i think they are working on a BSG conversion of eaw useing some my models i did for the Sins of the 13th tribe BSG mod in the Sins of a Solar empire game. Which reminds me i need to release them here i guess too   :-\
One of the reasons i dont release to other games is all i have now is Gmax and i dont even know if there are plugins for those games.  .mod file is all i can export to at this point and even some of my new models i wont be able to release without outside help. I am getting rundll32 crashes that restart explorer and wont stop untill i deleate the .mod . I have made the republic Y wing 2 times now and none of the copys in the texture stage will export with out that crash.  Vista might be the end for my Gmax fun.
Here is a pic of that Lego job, im working on some new style engines  :-\ The base mesh is under 1k - engine stuff there i might try to detail it up and make it look legoish. But anyhow there will be atleast 3 variants released pending they dont crash my damn pc at export.

Here is my republic gunship , The only things i need to add are the sphere guns in front and the missle launchers, I want to keep it lowpoly under 1200 for possable fighter use but spheres and cylnders make it hard, should i go with a 8 sides 10 ,12, 14, for the missle pods?  :-\ I still need to add the sphere guns on the front and to keep it round they have to be atleast 50 poly.  Opinions / thoughts on how to make it look accurate but keep it low poly ?
