RP forum project
« on: August 13, 2009, 08:05:17 pm »
The vast majority of forum RPGs centered around the life in a single Star Trek ship are playing with ships commissionned by the Feds. I'd want to start something like these but with a non-Fed ship.

Here's the thing: we players all play crewmen in a (modified) Norexan of the Tal Prai'ex (Praetorian Guard.) For some reason, after Shinzon's death, the Romulan Senate began to recruit outside mere Romulans among its military, even going as far as assigning the most meritorious of them to Tal Prai'ex units (although non-Romulans/Remans were banned from Tal Shiar service)

But since we don't know much about the Tal Prai'ex or the Romulan chain of command, we can have more freedom to improvise than we would in a Federation setting (barring plot devices, of course)

Is anyone ready for this?

I've never really done a forum RPG, but if you're doing Romulan I'm willing to try when I'm on the forums.

Remember, you can play as any character, from any race, the House of Orioss is a wealthy Romulan house, capable of hiring any crewman in the neighboring nations, given time and arrangements.

It pulls up the header on top, but nothing else is showing up?

Now it should work... but why would the majority of players of such RPG games play as Feds?

Heheh, they call it the Blue Plague? The author of http://mu.ranter.net/starfleet-command-ii/damn-whiny-feds#more-557 has some opinions on why so many people fly Feds, although it is focused on SFC, but some of the reasons fit with any Trek game. There is some Fed-bashing, but it's all good-natured.

I guess that the Trekkies that would like to become Picard, Janeway or Kirk would outnumber the "non-Feds" by a heavy margin. I started that game in an effort to make the "game-ship" world less Federation-centered.

By "game-ships" I mean forum RPs centered around the life on a ship.

If you wish to play, it's here: http://www.modcraft.net/community/index.php?showforum=1061

If you plan on playing Star Trek Online in the future, you could try the IRF... the major Romulan fleeter in existence.

However, Romulans don't have the manpower of either the Federation or the Klingons; even as they fight each other and within themselves, the Feds have about 100 fleets, Klingons have about 30-40 fleets and the majority of other races have 1 or 2 fleets each. We currently are in a four-race alliance (Gorn-Cardassian-Romulan-Borg; really some sort of Unimatrix Zero as far as Borg are concerned)
