After much thought and review of my music collection I have decided that the album in question must be a live performance to truly express the rock n' roll experience. There are many great live albums, but I think the one that really grabs you by the nuts and won't let go is ...AC/DC's If You Want Blood You've Got It.

I thought about that Album and almost made it #1.  I guess Im just a littel more of a Who Fan  ;D

The great twentyeight by Chuck Berry

I still contend that an anthology of artists would be better to define rock and roll.  As no one artist contends the whole of the issue.

But that said, I will agree Chuck Berry can probably be traced as the root of modern rock and roll so he would be a good choice.

I agree that a mesh of everything from Chuck and Elvis to Hendrix, the Who, to Foreigner and Skynyrd would be the best, but if it had to be just one:
