I broke down and finally got a cheap printer scanner from wall mart. Naturally there was no USB cable included so I had to go back to wall mart and get one. But good god how the hell are you suppose to open the damn thing without tearing it all to hell. I think they have gone overboard with some of their packaging ways.

Somewhere in China a sadistic package assembler is taking delight in your discomfort.

How much did that USB cable cost you, btw.  I bought a printer scanner just to hold me, a while back, from Best Buy.  No cable included.  They wanted about 40 bucks (I think it was like 43) for the USB cable.  Newegg had the same cable for 5-9 bucks (can't remember exactly)  Yeah, I waited for the newegg one, but man they gouge on those cables..

I must confess, the thought of people cutting themselves on clamshell packaging excites me in ways you can't imagine.

It is theft prevention. Want easier packaging? Shoot more thieves.

I've found that some liquidators have cables cheaper, I have bought a number of 3' USB cables (A male to A female) for $1.13 (Cdm) each including taxes.
