What was ment by chipsetf on dual boot is that each OS is independant .
when you start your maching on Dual Boot.. you have a choice of OS.. in this case the choice of Windows 7 and XP.
Each OS has its own independant registry and as such, each will require their own drivers for your hardware.. IE chipsets..
so basically you install Windows 7, update from MS, then update Drivers, MS C++ 2005 and 2008 runtimes and update .Net Framework, Update to IE 8, get your Java from Sun Microsystems, and then get your Adobe products installed..
Then you follow my Dual Boot Guide
Then you restart into XP and get it set up, update from MS, then update Drivers, MS C++ 2005 and 2008 runtimes and update .Net Framework, get your Java from Sun Microsystems, and then get your Adobe products installed..
Now you have 2 independant OS on your system.. 1 for all current softwaqre and about 60% of old software.. and 1 for old software that will not work properly on Windows 7 (Like SFC Dynaverse).
for someone like Marstone.. you could go Tripple Boot..
Now my Dual Boot guide uses HDD partitions, however you can use multiple drives for added security and less chance of catastrophic data loss if the drive dies in the future.
