What One Rock Album Would You Send
« on: July 29, 2009, 05:50:49 am »
This question was asked a few years ago, and so I decided to bring it back. ;D

"What one Rock album would you send out into space, to let beings out there know what Rock & Roll is"

After consideration of so many fine albums. The one I came up with........ The Who  "Who's Next"

Given the question: What is Rock & Roll?

To answer with a single album title, I think I might have to go with:

The Rolling Stones "Let It Bleed"  :rwoot:

I still contend that an anthology of artists would be better to define rock and roll.  As no one artist contends the whole of the issue.

But that said, I will agree Chuck Berry can probably be traced as the root of modern rock and roll so he would be a good choice.

Can't argue with that selection for the purpose described. Of course that's assuming you wanted to show rock evolved and polished about as far as it can go and still be "just rock".

You gotta love a band that can fit 21 songs on a 44:42 album. My favorite song title is -

Diamonds and Rust (Extended Version) - :02

Between that and Pre-Menstrual Princess Blues that album is an instant classic!  ;D

LOL, Oh man, and all this time, I thought I was the only one who had ever heard of them. I remember way back in the 90's, My old Sifu was of Catholic/Jewish parents.

He was worried about this album when I gave it to him as a present, but went on to get such a kick out of it.

After much thought and review of my music collection I have decided that the album in question must be a live performance to truly express the rock n' roll experience. There are many great live albums, but I think the one that really grabs you by the nuts and won't let go is ...AC/DC's If You Want Blood You've Got It.

I agree that a mesh of everything from Chuck and Elvis to Hendrix, the Who, to Foreigner and Skynyrd would be the best, but if it had to be just one:
