Looks good! It would suit the USS Endeavour model out there that bridges TMP and TOS.

It needs some sort of cooling fin on the side simmler to the tmp shuttle  the side there looks a little bare other than that it looks sweet. < Note you wanted a comment ,Btw is this the Trucker Joker?  ;)

Front looks tng..which obviously doesn't match the nacelles. Work is good, but it seems that shuttle has parts from to different eras, which makes it just...look wrong.

Quick suggestion.. if you decrease the size of the front and side windows, you'll get more of a transition from TOS to TMP.  I'm attaching a quick mock-up of your shuttle to get the idea across.

It's a great start, just needs a bit of tweaking.  If you were going more Lost-Era, then this is more the design you'd be looking for, but TOS -> TMP.. I think you'll be going more towards the mockup..

Just my opinion, take it for what it's worth.  :)

(edit:  modified to give a bit more detail.. I also removed the warp bussard as the theory goes that the shuttles of this time period were sublight.)

And here's a suggestion for the back... this'll (I think) add to the TOS -> TMP feel, again.. don't treat this as gospel.. these are just suggestions.

No, keep the nacelles, but don't think warp capable.  Think more along the lines of support and outriggers, fuel storage.. that sort of thing.

Personally, I like basic.. but the biggest clue for you should be what your base ship looks like.  Almost all the shuttles in Trek take a lot of influences from their motherships.

So if you're going for a TOS -> TMP style.. I'd go for the light grey (or lighter) you have now, or an off-whitish-grey texture if you're leaning more towards TMP.

Here's a good example of a the differences between TOS, Phase II ship (roughly the time period that you're looking at), and a TMP ship:

TOS
http://www.startrek.com/imageuploads/200609/0809006-dig-enterprise-remasters/320x240.jpg

Phase II
http://trekmovie.com/images/PIIent0000_st.jpg

TMP
http://www.scifi-meshes.com/rivard/enterprise_large.jpg

I've mocked the last shot up again, just a bit lighter to more approach the off-white to give you an example.  And if you compare it to the inshow shot of the Galileo above and then check the TMP Enterprise.. you'll see it's fairly close.  But Phase II is also just a bit darker, the surface matches the TOS era.  (The thought was that either they sprayed a grey protectant onto TOS surfaces which they no longer did in TMP, and then went back towards in Lost Era (Ent-C times, or they painted the ships whiter in TMP and early movie era times, and went back to a greyish protectant for Lost Era.. your choice).  ;)

Looking nice! I am a fan of the Enterprise from "The Motion Picture" -- like Atheorhaven said, it looked brighter/whiter/shinier in that movie (although it wasn't cheesy or too shiny) -- so I have to vote for that lighting scheme.

Ok...

Here it goes a few suggestions
  • Push the indent on the roof upwards, as it is now everyone who goes through the door will have to duck to get in add equipment below it and they get to crawl into the ship. In truth it probably is not needed as the engines are on the bottom.
  • Remove the side winows in TOS the shuttles had them in the front only and were mostly kept closed, probably from a lack of or weaker shielding, even in TMP the winsow was only in the front
  • Seperate the Impulse engines some on a black or dark gray surface
  • Incent the side doors as they would slide into the hull since you put a pad on top iof the engine for stepping on. If it was a fold down then a step ectending from the lowered door you would not place anything on the engine tops
  • You only need about two steps on the engines ad well at the 2/3 and 1/3 engine hieght
  • Make the back door flush with the hull, and a one piece door. It can be used as a cargo ramp that way

Anyways at least thats what I would consider doing to the current mesh.
As for the textures how detailed are we talking about you wanting to go?
Added a pic or so to help explain

I really dig the design, and the redesigns are progressing very nicely. Since you seem to be liking the input, here's another two cents...

-the side windows are a nice touch (and seem to invoke the look of the DS9 runabout to me) but are superfluous I suppose; and...
-especially in the TOS era, the engine area of a small ship should take up internal space, so...
-eliminate the aft door and make that "door" the impulse engine, and move the side door to just behind the cockpit, i.e.., in front of the nacelle?

Easier, quicker access for the crew, perhaps doors on both sides of hull, and the feeling of a big engine at the back of the shuttle makes sense to me. Whether it's canon or not, I like to think that shuttles have some warp capabilities and the core will have to go somewhere...

Anyway, just a thought. But me likey Ewloe big time

If anything with panel lines, take a hint from the Phase II Big-E, and only add a bit of light aztecing and/or lines.. here's a coiple of examples as to what they were planning for Phase II..

Hi guys thanks for your input again, I have been working on her, and she is looking a little better, have followed some suggestions and am currently texturing some light panelling and detailing the underside..

Need to still divide the thrusters. but thanks everyone  :o  Sorry about the aft text, but was not sure what to write on that big aft storage hatch??

Looks good. The military usually puts something witty on doors like "decompression danger" or "Cargo #1" even though there's only one cargo door. ;)

Hey, wb... it's looking sharp.  :)

First of all, I'd let function determine form.  If you're going to do that as a hatch and/or a ramp, I'd take a page from the screen and go this route:

That'd give you a back that'd look similar to this:

(ps: also, are those going to be lights under the ramp/hatch?)

Minor point,

The light shape you used is for a spotlight hitting at a angle. You are using a bar to light the area so the effect should be different.
