Operation Death Star
« on: June 19, 2009, 09:49:31 pm »
I wanted to know what happened when one destroyed a planet in SFC1. Completely unshielded at that.

Conclusion: although I couldn't destroy the planet outright, all I could do was to take out the planet's systems and its Marines. For some reason, when it reached a damage threshold it seemed to activate some sort of corbomite shield...

That is really mean, but I spat out water after reading it.

It's too bad planets can't be killed in SFC, but trying to imagine how the planet model would have to break apart into big chunks, I'm kind of glad.

Did you attempt something like an Operation Death Star on SFC 2 or SFC 3?

At least any weapon has 100% accuracy at any range on planets, being so big as targets.

No big deal, I've destroyed a planet before...there's no break model for it so it just vanishes...

well... let me clarify that, the Hand of Bethke has destroyed a planet in the BattleFest script...

In SCF2/OP if you take a scan mission in a black hole hex, there's a chance you will find yourself looking at a planet slowly being pulled into six black holes. If you wait long enough it will go in. Volley Info went crazy and it made a noise like someone beating on a washing machine with a hammer. It took quite awhile to die, but it did.

You can make planets destructible in SFC3 by changing the Class in the loadout files.
