Noob Rookie here!
« on: June 11, 2009, 03:11:16 pm »
Okay I have tried to follow these forums and I still can't log into Dynaverse, the Part under the name/password/username is still grayed out...

I have done this http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163378640.0.html and I have done--

Name="ServerSetup"

[Settings]
SingleThreaded = 1
CreateCentralSwitch = 0
SinglePlayer = 0
BlockSize             = 10000 // How many micro-seconds to spend on server side stuff before doing page flip
DelayMultiple          = 1.0   // What multiple of time to wait before going back to server side stuff
PacketQueLimit         = 75    // What

[RTI]
//IPAddr = "0.0.0.0:1234"
IPAddr = "209.69.154.13:2601"

[CentralSwitchSetup]
Listen = 0

[WONDirectoryServer]
ServerPath = "/StarFleetCommand2/Game/Release"

[WONDirectoryServer/Addresses]
//0="sfc2.west.won.net:15101"
//1="sfc2.central.won.net:15101"
//2="sfc2.east.won.net:15101"
0=client.sfc.dynaverse.net:15101
1=client.dynaverse.net:15101
2=sfc2.directory.stasis.ca:15101

[Clients]
ChatClient            = 1
SecurityClient         = 1

[Launch]

and I have done

[3D]
wireframe=0
windowed=0
zbuffer=1
lowres=0
driver=0
backdrop=1
shipstacking=1
ambientlighting=5.00
luminancetextures=1
luminancedamagetextures=1
spacedust=1

(Ambient lighting and spacedust are changed by me... you will be able to see the ships and also will be able to take some beautiful screen pics with the spacedust at "1" instead of the default 0.)

Then, at the very bottom of this file you will need to manually type in...

[Debug]
VollyInfo=1

and then save it. Do this on the line directly under...

WONNickname="whatever your name is"

-----

But I still cannot get into the Dynaverse, it lets me click the log in, I see the Hailing Systems Message, but the 2 Buttons on the bottom of the Page are Grayed out, and I have no clue what to do now.

Go here:

ftp://www.dynaverse.net/sfc2_op/patches/sfc2_directory_server_updater.exe

Do you use a router??

what kind??

I had a similar issue and the router was my problem.

Yes, the router is a Linksys, and I are not on a static IP I use a DHCP connection. I did use that Patch that is actually what let me see those messages, Before, It would always have me forse Close the SFC game from sitting there for 30 minutes still saying Checking for updates each time.

The Model for the Linksys is a WRTS4GS v4

 then we are using a Moterola Modem
model SB5120

Both which are up to date on drivers, and I have tried to DMZ Host, Tried to Port Forward took it off Disabled Firewall Ran GSA while doing it everything I could Possible think of, Started from scratch, Just says the same message behind firewall or not loged in.

There is your problem. Have you got an XP install?

Here is where I ended up: http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163384057.msg1122928241.html#msg1122928241
A multiboot setup. (for the somewhat advanced user)

I have been steadily working on getting the OP Dynaverse client to run on Vista. Still no luck. (no client source so it is all hacking). I will keep trying though. In the meantime XP or earlier is required for the OP Dynaverse.

I wonder if EAW sufferes from the same problems? Has anyone tested it?
