Just got back and not particularly impressed. The first thing I noticed was the lack of chemistry. Not surprising because the two main characters hate each other's guts..
The plot? Can't describe it without spoiling it for those who wish to see it.
Good CGI. Big whoop. That's not my Trek. Stellar CGI does not a Trek movie make.
What caused my eyebrows to be raised in scepticism was ...... the hereafter altered time line of Trek.
Sure, that's good for JJ but I don't care to see this franchise tossed into the air like the chaff off the wheat.
I was hoping for Trek continuity. A reaffirmation to Gene's Star Trek. That didn't happen.
In short, I didn't leave the theatre enthused. I left bewildered and disappointed. Ambivalent. Almost sad.
This is what JJ has done to our legendary crew? And the ship itself? Sorry. That's not the USS Enterprise.
Just giving my honest assessment as one who watched the original series and became a devoted fan.
