The treatment involves replacing a layer of degenerated cells with new ones created from embryonic stem cells. It was pioneered by scientists and surgeons from the Institute of Ophthalmology at University College London and Moorfields eye hospital.

I have to admit that embryonic stem cell research appears to be a boon for veterinary medicine.  I haven't seen much progress treating human diseases though.

Question I have is how much anti-rejection drugs are needed for embryonic stem cell treatment.  Is it a lifetime thing, as when you get a new organ.  I would figure that the use of the alternative Stem Cells (although alittle harder to get, but come from the person being treated) would be a better choice, just not as easy.  You would have any rejection problems.
