have you thought about adding a couple fighters or shuttles to each bay? They wouldn't be any good for armada but they'd be great for SFC and BC.

yeah maybe, I did mesh out a very low poly fighter to go with it.

same texture style, I'll send them out together... as for how it's arranged, I always give free license for my models, you know that  ;)

If you havent released this beauty yet, I have one suggestion that may add more depth...its one of my little secrets hehe.

Depending on what program you are using (I use PSP) take the lightness down tool, set it at 100 percent density, 22 opacity and a step of 25...go for size of the tool to be about 50 percent larger than the gaps between each panel...the dark lines you have running between them. I found 64 is a good size, sometimes it needs to be smaller or larger.

Then very carefully use the tool, dabbing a bit at a time along the line to darken that area..it will overlap on the panels slightly.

This will REALLY add to the overall look of the panels, giving them much more depth and weathering without bumpmapping.

Achilles, fantastic work on those textures mate.  The fighter is looking good too.  I suspose for Armada your could set this up as a moble ship yard and it could lauch the fighters in that manner using a 0.0 for the build time.

Raven, thanks for shaing one of your little secrets...runs off to write it done in the how to texture book.  I enjoy leraning from you masters.

I tried that Raven, thanks for the suggestion... I'm not sure it looks more weathered (all of my ships looks like they just rolled off of the production line) however I do like the darker contrast it gives.

I think it looks great!

Here is a pic to show what I meant. If you wanted to match what I have here I can give more pointers. But you get the idea.

I love the line details you put into the panel. Excellent work.

unfortunately I can't, my comp started dying about 2 weeks ago preventing me from accessing the net, 4 days ago it stopped loading, I'm just getting some hardware before I re-install the big biatch.

...what also help, you might want to try, one of my other little secrets is too add lighter lines as well.

Look closely at the E-7 textures and you will see what I mean. From a distance it creates slight contrasts which fool the eye into seeing imperfections/depth in the panel. The color should be VERY close to the panel color inside (the part not darkened) and move out to the dark part.

Just a few here and there makes a huge difference, especially close up.

well, real bad news. My motherboard finally popped and took my HD with it, I'd have my back up but that died about a month ago so this model is lost... along with a massive amount of WIP stuff. on the plus side I learnt a lot and will be looking to hit some higher poly/detail designs soon as my new motherboard/HD arrives.

Additionally I can't find my 3ds max 5 install so I can't export to armada (I refuse to use milkshape) so that's a bit of a bummer.

I reformatted it as a second HD, I'm not really fussed about the data. that last klinker was good practice but I think I should start aiming a little higher.

Make the next one a TOS Klingon carrier and I won't miss the last one too badly. lol  Seriously though, I thought it was pretty good. I look forward to seeing your next project.

So we have this Christmas contest at a2files and I starting making this, I am making a carrier becuase I was inspire by Smiley's Britain class, the reason it's Klingon and the textures look like that is because I fell in love with the textures from Raven's E7. It's only 2000+ polies so I dont expect rave reviews here but I'm quite happy so far. I am naming it Notqa'jev which according to a site I found means big, black bird storm... a bit of poetic license and it's storm of crows class.

Wow some old model I made years, literally about 5+ years ago inspired you to make this? It's a real shame that you lost it though :(
