I hope so, because I have already gone through the uninstall/reinstall steps twice.

I am trying to load and run OP, upgraded with Pesty's Enhancement pack.  The machine is the same one on which I used to run the game with enhancement pack.  The message I keep getting when I try to load the game is: "This application failed to start because Mss32.dll was not found."

If someone could please tell me, a relatively un-computer-savvy guy, how to fix this, I would be most obliged.

Thanks in advance.

I actuall found the Mss32.dll file in the Dll_orig file in the OP directory.  I am assuming that it is not in the right place or that there is some other file interfering with it.

Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

It should be present in the root of your op installation (same folder as StarFleetOP.exe), if it is not there copy the one from the orig_dll folder there.

Or you could try using the latest one from Miles but I think the latest one does not work with OP. I forget.
You'll find it in the miles sound tools:
http://www.radgametools.com/mssdown.htm

Try the original first tho.

Did that, but now I get a "Runtime error"-- "Abnormal program termination" in "Microsoft C++ Visual Runtime Library."  >:(

I should have added:  the program worked fine before I installed the enhancement pack.

Help!

For posterity's sake:  I resolved this issue.  I determined there was something fundamentally screwy with the way my PC was recognizing (or not recognizing) DLL files.  I ran through a few fixes from the MS support forum, and kept finding additional problems.  Long story short-- it had just been too long since Ihad cleaned out my computer.  There wer multiple registry problems and not a small number of malware-type programs lurking around.  I finally just ended up doing a disk wipe/formatting and conducting a fresh install of Windows XP after backing up my data.  After that, the clean OP install plus Pesty's enhancement pack worked just find.

Also, a quick plug for Verizon FIOS-- When configuring my router for online play, I found that Verizon has created an easy drop down menu which automatically creates the right settings with one click.  Believe it or not, SFC was on the drop down list, and with one click on that option, I was set to go.  Most excellent.
